And who knows, maybe Dombrowski told them he was not coming back. Maybe he planned on retiring. If he doesn't retire, he will find a team with a flush farm system that he can deplete in his quest to win a title. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but the one constant is that there is nothing left when he is done and the team is left with too many big money contracts for guys that are getting old.

(edit - apparently there was one year left on his contract so either the local radio guys had it wrong or I misunderstood).
You must be listening to sports radio too much if you think everybody around here saw it coming. Nobody saw this coming one year off a title.
