I actually bought 2 boxes of CC 2 weeks ago.
94-95 - series 2
96-97 - series 1
I started with the 94-95... Hoping to land a nice gold MJ.
First pack i open... Golden Kemp! (I actually was kinda bummed out that it was the first pack
)
Then onto 96-97.
No big hits, but definately a fun rip.
I'm from Belgium, so the card hobby is pretty much dead over here.
It's either purchases & trades from Facebook or through eBay. So finding local stuff is nearly impossible.
But last week, i've found a strange add on a local "craigslist-like" site.
No pictures, everything written in CAPS and a very vague description. I immediately thought 'this has to be an old guy'. Turns out i was right... it was a senior, who was seriously ill. He told me he had 6 weeks to live
. Based on the fact how he lived, i think he was literally alone. He started collecting NBA cards 8 years ago, just to keep him busy.
He had a collection over 100k cards.
60k cards was sorted in penny sleeves per player. +40k cards was still unsorted.
As it's a crazy amount of cards, i had no time to go through it all. Based on the first boxes i opened, it was mainly early 90s stuff. I didnt see anything big.
Now, i couldnt pass up on this because A) you won't find anything like this in Belgium B) The seller honestly wanted to give his collection a new home.
So long story short, i managed to get everything into my car.
In total, i estimate 800 to 900 pounds in cards.
I now have weeks of fun a head, of going through his collection.
So far i already hit plenty of CC silvers, golds and even some platinums.
I'll try to post them later on this week.
