That just begs the question then of why have playoffs set up "against" teams?

And to tie it back to the original question, if fans of football are ok with having playoffs broad enough to include essentially fodder teams, then why do so many have a problem with the idea of expanding the college playoffs.

This thread isn't to argue for or against anything, only to try to parse out the reasoning behind supporting statistically irrelevant playoff rounds in the NFL and opposing similar inclusions on the college level.
