To crack or not to crack

I have a rookie card of a great player graded 10 by a not so great grading company. How do you know when to crack and how do you crack without damaging card? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I see psa 10's of the same card going for such different prices! I always think to buy the cheapest one but then the pics of these cards always look so crappy... even the higher priced of the bunch!...

Yes sometimes you see 2 of the exact same card that are graded same number and one looks so much better than the other! Sad thing is is that the one that doesn't look at good is at least not tampered...
