COMC Question

As a person looking to purchase a few cards on COMC, I saw that there is a cash out fee after I deposit my money?

First time user of COMC so I'm not use to the website. So if I put in $50 and only get $30 worth of stuff and want my other $20 back they are going to charge me a fee to take my $20 back?

If this is correct, I'll pass on this website altogether.

BrianV 01-16-2016 12:11 PM

That is correct - they take a 20% cash out fee, to encourage people to spend it all on cards. However, I think you can get a Blowout gift card for the face value.

Hess687 01-16-2016 12:16 PM

No offense to those people who shop there but that may be the most asinine thing I have ever heard of.

That's like me going into Wal-Mart and getting some items and checking out and then having them say, "Ohhh I still see you have $100 left over, since you didn't spend that all here, we're gonna need $20 of that, mmmmkay?"

How is that even in the slightest bit okay?

COMCMax 01-16-2016 12:18 PM

No, they don't charge fees if you deposit the money and request a refund if you don't spend it. They charge the fee if you sell the item you bought back on the site (flip it) or sell items on the site you've sent in and cashout.

From what I'm seeing you can request a full refund within the first 30 days with no fees, but anything after that 30 days they charge a fee.

That's right; you can receive a 100% refund on any unspent credit, if the request is made within 30 days of it's purchase. After 30 days, you can get hit with that 20% cash out fee...I'd recommend not waiting until the last minute to request the refund, just in case there are any delays.

jerryw 01-16-2016 12:58 PM

do they credit it back to the source you use...lets say you put 100 in comc with a credit card will they credit back the unspent portion to the credit card or do they send it to paypal and then you have to send it back the the credit card as a payment?

thebrett 01-16-2016 01:10 PM

What if I add credit, spend it on a port, make the amount back and request it? Can I avoid the 20%

nope, it's only for unused store credit. It's not valid after you use it.

Since you have to add the credit via Paypal, they'll process the refund via Paypal. I think the only exception is if you sent in a check or money order, then they'd still use Paypal...as long as you have a Paypal account.

so one would have to get funds from comc to paypal then transfer them to your bank account and send back to credit card company?

Pretty much, yea...unless you can go from your Paypal account directly to your CC account. Either way, have fun :)

it's almost like they don't want you to ask for a refund or a cash-out, isn't it? :coffee:

:)!:)!:)!:)!:)!

94collector 01-16-2016 09:51 PM

what you do is spend the money on the site on a card selling for more on ebay. have it shipped and then put the card on ebay and profit. then there is no cashout fee

4SeamCollect 01-17-2016 03:30 AM

You also have the option of not loading money into your account and purchasing your cards for whatever the face value of your shopping cart is. You can buy without loading money into your account. The only drawback that I know of is that it won't track those cards in your account's history the same way.

eBay got rid of fees?

Hess687 01-17-2016 10:38 AM

Thanks for the input gentlemen. I don't believe I'll be buying anything from COMC anytime soon....or ever.

I wouldn't give up on the site that easily, imo.

Why not keep the $20 in credit and use for future purchases?

There are options to suit most needs. Using your example, you could have added $30 credit and made your purchase.

(you can upload credit in increments of $10).

Hope this helps.

There are probably a hundred things to complain about what they do at COMC, but this just isn't one of them.

I think a few of you guys are making this harder than it needs to be.

This conversation is funny! since the answer for original question is simply YES! i believe they will credit it back to the source you use.

I don't know if COMC accept direct credit card. But when you pay through paypal or check they will refund through the source you use using, paypal or check too.

T3sT 01-17-2016 12:24 PM

And from my experience cashout and refund in COMC is very easy.. just few clicks done.

*shrugs* I never actually handled any money, either in purchases or refunds...I just directed people to the "cash out" page on the website, where it says "If you bought store credit within the last 30 days, we do not need to charge you the cash-out fee." and it also says the 2 options for refunds are Paypal or a check.

As for adding store credit, when you do buy store credit, the first thing it does is it directs you to the Paypal website.

I've said it before (about other elements of the website) and I'll say it again (with no fear of repercussions) - this isn't rocket science.
