need help with Imac issue

Hey all,

Just a heads up. If anyone resolves this problem for me, I will give them ANY card from my COMC bucket for sale at $7 or under for free.

Anyway,

I bought an imac a while ago and have been having a lot of trouble with my printer and scanner. It doesn't recognize them I think. I have tried troubleshooting every way possible. Nothing on the apple site helps. The main issue is with the printer. I have an HP photosmart 3100 series. every time i print it prints 4-5 pages with just the first line in black(even if the document is 1 page). Then, it pauses. When I hit resume, it works and finishes printing the document.
As for the scanner, when I click it it says cannot communicate with scanner. Both are plugged in via usb.

Any ideas how to fix this?

We don't say that name around these parts.

Damn it, thought this was about THE Imac.

In before deletion.

When you say you have tried everything, did you reset the printing system:

Apple menu > Sys Prefs > Printers & Scanners
Right click in the list of printer(s) and select Reset printing system.

Then, don't install any drivers but use Apple's software update to locate them:

Connect the printer, confirm it is powered on. Apple Menu > App Store > Updates

Still no dice, create a new Admin user and try printing / scanning from that user to eliminate any problems with preferences in your user account.

If you did all this, sounds like there's a problem with the printer.

Tried it. No drivers appear under updates. nothing appears.
UPDATE:
Creating a new admin user didn't work either. Time for a new printer?

This top link has potential. I installed the driver. but now i can't find it anywhere. It hasn't prompted me to restart, and when I reset the printer it still didn't work, so thinking I have to locate the driver. But I can't find it anywhere. Any tips?

Another computer you can connect that printer to? Take it to a friends house.

Different USB cable?

Get the printer on wifi or Ethernet and see if it shows up on the iMac.

Tried it with another USB cable. That might have done the trick... confirming and then if this did it then nicnac gets a FREE COMC card from my account (price at $7 or less). I know its not much but i have some good ones in that range.
