Ebay Scam, Be on the Lookout For

Recently listed 100+ 2015 Tier one baseball autos and relics that sold on 6/14 . Ebay user bigus.fdprqspd6 purchased 31 of the lots. His account was created 3 days prior on 6/11. At the time, he had zero feedback.

After the auction ended he initially requested I cancel 6 of the 31 transactions, which i did, and then he proceeded to request I cancel an additional 3- which i refused (I was getting pretty frustrated at this point). He paid for the remainder of the items- 25 and they were shipped the next day.

He now claims he did not receive 3 cards- the 3 additional he had asked to cancel.
The cards are:
2015 Topps Tier One Baseball C.J. Cron Red Ink Asia Exclusive Auto 4 /5, ebay listing # 281715474593

2015 Topps Tier One Baseball Anthony Rizzo Mark Teixeira Dual Auto 14 /25, ebay listing # 281715472952

2014 Panini National Treasures Wilmer Flores Black RPA Rookie Patch Auto 05 /10, ebay listing # 271894385389

Additionally- he claimed 5 other cards arrived damaged/not as described. 2015 Topps Tier One Baseball Stephen Strasburg Jersey Relic 215 /399
2015 Topps Tier One Baseball Kole Calhoun New Guard Autograph Auto 261 /349
2015 Topps Tier One Baseball Michael Taylor New Guard Autograph Auto 258 /349
2015 Topps Tier One Baseball Kole Calhoun New Guard Autograph Auto 211 /349
2015 Topps Tier One Baseball Adam Wainwright Jersey Relic 263 /399

Paypal now has a hold on $258 of my money while they "sort" out the dispute. I am an ebay Top Rated Seller and power seller with over 850 feedback, I wouldn't be where I am at if i shorted people on their orders and sent them damaged items.

EDIT: Buyer Changed his uername to hotitemsformuchlessalways

Update: PayPal initially sided with buyer and required him to mail all items back. Buyer mailed back empty envelope. Once I filed a police report- PayPal reversed all decision, released my funds back to me and canceled the buyers dispute. Long journey to get to this point but glad PayPal got it right.

I don't know when it started, but it seems like lately a lot of the posts here about blocking eBay IDs involve usernames with that same format. A bunch of nonsense with a period somewhere in the middle.

I know that eBay is buyer-friendly, but hopefully they'll see through a 0 feedback bidder scam.

Buyer has changed his user id to hotitemsformuchlessalways

Kane1 06-24-2015 01:42 PM

About cancels. I know this buyer isn't an angel, but if he ask for cancel avoid thinking twice.

Are you sure the hold was the dispute? Because the name of the buyer and the name in the e-mail are different.

Just always remember in eBay cases. Always follow the case and show all your proof.

Until recently Ebay was testing a new registration process, they would auto generate an id looking like that and then once you confirmed your email they would allow you to change it if you wanted.

Did you file a police report in your town or in his?

ramblers99 06-02-2016 08:26 PM

He just bought a bunch of mine and is bidding on more. I blocked him and contacted ebay telling them I do not want to ship to him if he pays. I came to this page by googling the address.

not sure it will help in this case. it's his words against op's words.

RandyB 06-03-2016 06:44 AM

What a scumbag! It's a shame that a seller who's worked hard to build up a good reputation has to go through this garbage! Ebay should cancel and ban the buyer's account. They need to take care of the people who take care of them!!!

Kane1 06-03-2016 03:03 PM

eBay doesn't care about it. Because they only cares when the issue is making them pay.

Just think for a moment about a simple thing like the "blocking list in eBay". How many clicks you need to get/find it? If you know about eBay, the fastest way is 2 clicks, site map, block list. And important tool, not available in MyeBay page.

It is under the "To Do" tab on my sellers summary tab

Kane1 06-05-2016 05:52 AM

I don't see any "To Do" tab. I don't have an eBay Store.

Wow. Had a similar experience just now.

Just an update - add this user id mayhemous2012

Got an offer on a fairly high dollar card and the buyer has great feedback but was private so google was my friend.
Found quite a list of scams with these id's associated: hotitemsformuchlessalways, crananhyn, franlenn0, mayhemous2012, anthoncess-0

Not sure why I searched other than the private feedback but glad I did. Blocked them all!

Yep, that's what I found. Glad to know before I accepted the offer.
Interestingly enough I just got an offer on the same card from dolphinvinny who is also in Brooklyn. This account is a seller and looks to have good feedback. I don't think it's a coincidence, but who knows?

Still scamming

Still scamming under the name “Vincent Marave” under the user name cardscardscards91

wdbrdgcrdshw 05-23-2023 01:47 PM

I am the promoter of the Woodbridge Card Show in Woodbridge, NJ; Vincent Maraventano and his father HAD been vendors at our show. He purchased two tables at our December 2022 show with a Paypal account in his mother's name, Francine Cinque. He received those tables, and has since been vendors at four of our shows this year, paying in cash in advance.

I, regrettably, accommodated Vincent and his father too much. They have a habit of arriving late, often minutes before or well after a show opens. This should have not been tolerated, and they should have forfeited their table and any money paid per our vendor policies.

When they didn't show in April, they expected me to carry their registration and money to May. When I would not, I received DMs, texts, and phone calls from Vincent, his cousin, and father respectively.

Vincent has since opened a claim on the Paypal payment made in November, claiming he had been "scammed". How he was able to open a claim on a payment made seven months ago, I do not know. He attached my most recent messages, with the date and time obscured, as supporting evidence.

I am fighting the Paypal claim, and will file a police report. Vincent continues to post on instagram under the user id - sportscardsunlimitedforless. If I can be of assistance to anyone who's had an issue with Vincent, please message. Thank You, Eric
