Please help me with the value of this card....

I was giving this card by Austin's grandma and I had it placed in the enclosure by PSA (card is of flawless condition). From my understanding, Leaf gave Austin this "Player Edition" card as a proof to seek approval on using this image of himself. Leaf told him that its the only one stamped Player Edition and to exist. So being that its the only one, in perfect condition, player edition, of a top prospect and autographed, what would the estimate the value is currently of this card vs. the value once he gets called up? Do you know anything about a "Player Edition" card? If this was your card, what would you value it at? Thank you in advance for any info you can help me with.

Lol killer link

Who is Austin? I'm going to guess $0.

mudflap02 01-02-2015 03:17 AM

Assuming Austin Meadows, but the Leaf Player Editions were sold unsigned on ebay, getting a couple bucks per card on a good day.

Leaf just isn't the highest demand set, since they don't have the rights to logos of MLB teams.

Best case scenario - your card is a true Leaf 1/1 auto, and you get 2 bidders fighting it out over the card, and it's Austin Meadows: $75 cash value.

Worst case scenario - it's an in person autograph of a card that Leaf flooded the market on, and there are no bidders really hellbent on buying, and it's Austin Aune - $10 cash value.

TL: DR - Even on a good day, you won't put your kids through college with this card.

JMPKCP 01-02-2015 03:23 AM

Is it the Austin Meadows he has on eBay currently? That looks like a regular green refractor to me...and then an autograph that has been PSA/DNA certified.

fedmax123 01-02-2015 03:47 AM

no sir, thats a different card...I've never seen another card like this one..have you? Link should be fixed now..sorry about that.

Sorry..how about now sir?

thescout 01-02-2015 03:56 AM

First off that card is signed with a Sharpie? Are you saying it's a leaf certified auto?

fedmax123 01-02-2015 04:02 AM

It was already signed when I recieved it but do remember it stating something about a certified auto...hope this helps. Have anyone ever seen a player edition before?
First off that card is signed with a Sharpie? Are you saying it's a leaf certified auto?
Sorry I will reiterate, that card was sent to him unsigned or you bought it unsigned from leaf or someone else then got it signed. Maybe he did it for his grandma maybe not no clue, but leaf didn't watch him sign that it is a proof as indicated by the stamp where the auto should be and the fact it's signed in a Sharpie. I keep saying Sharpie because that is not a good thing. It's clearly an in person auto and many will consider that a knock on the card. I'd crack it, erase the auto and grade it a bgs 10 if it's really perfect then sell it.

thescout 01-02-2015 04:09 AM

You can also pm the owner of Leaf on here if you would like him to answer a question for you.

mudflap02 01-02-2015 04:09 AM

To answer your original question - $20 on a good day.

To clarify this post - you will not be able to crack it and erase the auto without affecting the grade. Leave it alone.

Having said all this - it's an awesome card, and no reason to doubt the authenticity of the autograph. If I were you, I would keep it and enjoy a piece of history as he rises through the ranks.

Huh, it isn't graded and those leaf cards are all bgs 10 and easy as heck to clean a sharpie off of

JMPKCP 01-02-2015 04:41 AM

I agree with thescout. Crack it and wipe the auto. Super easy to do. Worth more graded BGS 10 that way.

fedmax123 01-02-2015 05:19 AM

Thank you for the info sir, would you happen to know his username? Thank you again.

Shocked no one has asked, but how did you come by the card from his grandma??? Seems like something she would want to keep....................... I know my own grandparents have kept every single thing I've ever given them........surely it wasn't for money was it??????? Also if it was in fact factory card signed, it would have received a psa red label, not a blue one.

Yeah something doesn't seem right with this post. Unless the OP cut her lawn and she didn't have any cash to pay him. LOLOLOLOL

I'll be tweeting Austin later to see what's going on here.

audmill 01-02-2015 12:50 PM

From an ebay auction:
* ONLY 25 OF THIS CARD WAS MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC TOTAL *.............. When players participate in leaf products, leaf makes a small number of cards for the players personal use. Leaf stamps these "Player Edition"... On this years baseball draft sets, Leaf made approximately 50-60 of every player... The player got 25-35 and the remainder were made available to collectors exclusively from Leaf. These can not be found in packs.

Why would want to bother him over something so stupid..people often wonder why they don't respond. This is a prime example. Since you must know, I met the entire family when he was rehabbing for a couple games down in Bradenton..want to tweet his mom, dad, girlfriend, cousin and grandma as well? His mother and grandma was looking at my daughters collection as we sat in the bleachers together sharing (his mom and my daughter)an umbrella together due to the sun and really liked one that she had of him and daughter liked one (of the 7 or 8) his grandma pulled out of her purse and while my daughter gave her the card...grandma insisted on my daughter having this one. I sent it in to PSA for the sole purpose of having it encapsulated for daughter to protect it. I seriously doubt his grandma needs "pay the lawn man" money. I only wondered the value cause many of my collecting buddies keep asking. If you doubt the legitimacy of what I have posted, please post your email address and I'll send you pictures of us together from that day including a picture of Austin giving his bat to my daughter. Please don't bother Austin over trivial things...it only burns him out and others alike. Good night.

^^^^^ why would you be concerned on value if the card was given to your daughter as a keepsake? ^^^^ guy is a snake

sjorgen5 01-06-2015 10:32 AM

Nice card, OP, just in the wrong section if it's not for sale or trade.
