Crazy how fast things can change when sales slump lol also now can probably market it as a higher tier product=higher price Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Cant say Im mad they are getting rid of all the fluff. Kind of sad to see how far this product has fallen in favor.
|
Hopefully this helps Ice Premieres only being one per box and no more retail for those high-numbered ones. Used to be a coveted rookie in recent years it’s had like near zero impact.
|
This should be 24 packs per box 4 cards per pack. 1 pack. Lol.
|
I miss the days when people cared about Ice Premiers...
Maybe them harder to hit maybe would help? I still love the signature swatches, the black with silver ink *chefs kiss* |
Acetate cards are even in flagship now, I think their uniqueness has faded. Synergy has some objectively interesting use of acetate. Trilogy is gone as a set, which used to feature some nice acetate cards. The Hobby feels like its moved on.

Same, this is current configuration from last set:
Autographs or Memorabilia Cards – 1 Total Arcticulates – 2 Exquisite Collection Rookies, Frozen in Ice, SP Ice, or Short Print Base, Insert or Parallels – 2 Total Sub Zero – 1 Emerald Parallels – 12 Purple Parallels – 3 Ice Premieres – 3 Base Rookies – 12 Going from either or to both guaranteed and depending how many are actually mem autos and not just autos, pretty worried they’ll price it that way. Oh yeah and it isn’t on photo but posts says all cards are atleast 60pt thick as well. I don’t like base so I like the concept but I dunno only in cards can a product fail (or lose a lot of luster) and somehow the company will end up making more in it than before by repurposing lol |
So this is a variation of the Premier, Ultimate, Stature, SP Game Used, Engrained, etc.
Not sure how many of these we needed. |

How much more grading do we need? UD=Yes lol plus this has a chip! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Does this mean they will be grading the AHL cards and everything else that will soon follow in these janky slabs?
|
I thought PSA was the authority now there’s another authority. How can there be two authorities. This is as bad As Presidents Choice selling bread and hockey cards.
|
I miss the old days of Ice, something like 03-04, with a shorter checklist. The acetate memorabilia and autos from that year were nice.
I loved the thin Ice Premieres rookies. It will be a nice product for breakers, but I will stay away from it. |

They should fold the ice premieres (rookies and auto patches) and signatures swatches into Premier and/or Ultimate and get rid of it as a standalone product. They should also take SP Game Used, SPx and SP Authentic and do it as 1 product while they're at it. So long as they put back a true FWA per box people will gobble that slop up. |
One thing I forgot to mention is I wonder how/if this affects Exquisite since Ice was one of the products that included it.

Also SPA is one of their best products, even if quite diluted by a too long checklist. But yes, they could stop SPGU. |

SPA is basically just the autos and nothing else at all with value. It would be nice to combine some other products into it to give it something worthwhile other than FWA/P. |
We're not going back to the world where boxes were cheaper and the density of good hits was higher, not unless we chase off about 80% of the people in the hobby. Only so much to go around.
Personally, I've liked the Ice base sets from recent years, but the hobby hasn't and the cards have had no value, so might as well make it more premium. The Ice Premieres RPAs are the best RPAs that aren't 1/1s, IMO. |
2005-06 is when I got into hockey cards. Ice was one of my favourite sets. I had all the Ice Premieres minus the /99's. I was 15 back then and anything more than a $25 card was too rich for my blood. Looking back on it now, I sure wish I ponied up for the Crosby and Ovechkin's. Those things are worth their weight in gold now.

Gold is 4000ish an oz, one of those Crosby /99s weighs much less than an ounce and although hasnt sold in a while, is probably..... 10K at least? Its worth way more than gold. |
