2025-26 Young Guns checklist

Who are we expecting in Series 1? It comes out in about five weeks. I know there’s the Habs winger. Anyone else noteworthy?

FatButcher 09-06-2025 09:32 AM

As a Hawks fan Levshunov was a high pick and was ok(ish) last year and will be in it. Unfortunately Sam Rinzel will likely be S2 since he wasn't in MVP and he is way more exciting based on his play late in the year with Chicago.

anusinha 09-06-2025 03:47 PM

Lots of the top RCs in this will be D men. Levshunov, Byuim, Parekh. Demidov will lead the way by far, the montreal tax will have him selling like Celebrini/Bedard, probably even more right off the top.

mallowciraptor 09-09-2025 09:19 AM

Not noteworthy but really hoping Victor Ostman will get one for the Kraken. Another UMaine guy for me to chase around.

ThatGuyPal 09-10-2025 11:05 AM

I’ll wait to hear the top 2-3 guys. That seems to be all that matters even if others show flashes.

kellmuff 09-10-2025 02:57 PM

Demidov will likely be series 2 no? Probably Misa as well

FatButcher 09-10-2025 03:40 PM

Demidov will almost certainly be in S1, they had him in MVP and without him there is nothing to carry the product most likely.

anusinha 09-10-2025 06:11 PM

Pretty sure Demidov YG was on the sell sheet for s1

I think you might see Rinzel in it just because the Hawks had like 4 guys debut after update and could easily have 4 more before Series 2. I dont see 5+ in the S2 Line up, so I wouldnt be surprised for Rinzel and Moore to be in Series 1 just for that reason

anusinha 09-13-2025 09:12 PM

Alexander Nishikin is on the sell sheet for s2, as is the Demidov Canvas.

FatButcher 09-21-2025 11:19 AM

Time to stick and fork in Artifacts and wish it a fond farewell into the crap bin of UD sets. Valueless.

FatButcher 09-21-2025 04:34 PM

The checklist is the best thing Artifacts is giving me. Though the puck cards are interesting, but I'll wait for the singles to drop super cheap for those.

Lets be honest, there's only 5 sets left that really matter. UD 1/2/E, SPA, and Cup.

Every couple years they put out something with really nice veteran and legends content, but all that other random stuff is just filler garbage.

OPC/OPC Platinum still worth while for very different reasons. I personally really liked SPx this year, but resale says I might be the exception.

And stature has been fantastic albeit dual rookie year

ThatGuyPal 09-22-2025 09:18 AM

I’d argue Extended doesn’t even really matter, was the only flagship product last year that didn’t really sell well beyond out the gate from people who had FOMO from missing S2, and still needed to be discounted some places. Each year a YG is hyped/pumped from the set so people buy but let’s be real none are really superstars and many end up in dollar bins (Arthur Kaliyev anyone). Canvas popularity seems to have waned abit (shoutout Bedards last year lol) so even the big S2’s guys canvas doesn’t matter a ton and outside those who pull parallels themselves no one cares about the other rookies in the set which is actually a shame as some are cool and I thought it would be like Chronicles where if a guy is good it won’t be Prizm but will do ok but I mean I wouldn’t be surprised if you can get a Celebrini/Bedard UD3 for under $5. They literally had to put Ovi autos during a record breaking year in the product just to hopefully hold up prices as long as possible lol

To the point of this actual thread, am I missing something or how in the blue H-E double hockey sticks is Elias Petterson listed under Artifacts rookies and as defence? Serious question.

FatButcher 09-22-2025 09:25 AM

To the Elias Pettersson point, I pulled that rookie in my 1 box of MVP, it's actually a different dude. Also on the Canucks.

Vancouver has two players on their team, both named Elias Pettersson. One is the 26yo forward Assistant Captain; the other is a 21yo left-handed defenceman who was drafted in 2022 (80th pick) and played 28 games with the big club last year.

It's like there's two Sebastian Aho's, but in that case they play on different teams.

ThatGuyPal 09-22-2025 10:46 AM

Wow, I thought maybe that would be a possibility but I said no way same name AND same team lol that’s nuts cool info I had no idea

Pumped that this will have Lev, Moore and Rinzel (and Dach) for the Hawks. Lots to like for me. Also nice no weird teammates cards in this one.

anusinha 09-24-2025 07:59 PM

Hmmmm… looks like they snubbed Zeev

That was just Extended Series. Wouldn't put it past them to try it again this year...
