2025 Bowman Chrome
Looks like we have a preorder date of 08/11/2025 at 12pm if anyone is interested. This was $269.99 at preorder last year. Will we see an increase? Will we see less cards in hobby boxes but for the same price like Topps Chrome this year? This prospect class worth the buy?

I'll be scooping up Vet color that's for sure!
Each Hobby Box guarantees two Chrome Autograph cards, making every rip a potential grail pull.
"making every rip a potential grail pull." |
I have about 30 guys on my list who have yet to get BC autos. Hopefully most will be in here.

"making every rip a potential grail pull."
The Topps product previews/reviews seem to have the weirdest, patronizing tone. Not to mention they were clearly written by ChatGPT. Make sure to cash in your Roki Sasaki red refractors, as advertised, when he wins the ROY! |
They really need to put out a checklist for these kind of releases/pre-releases, which are very prospect-driven … particularly in a class of questionable rookies, and you don’t even know if they’re going to include certain desirable players (e.g. Nick Kurtz).
Prospects are a crap-shoot to begin with, but you’re basically flying blind as to who they even decide to put in this product as a 1st BCA. But people will still buy…. |
Hopefully the Red RCs will include one or more of the Miz, Baldwin, Kurtz and Anthony.

Relying on RC autos to save a Bowman product is a trap. They always SSP the hell out of desirable players. James Wood having /499 autos in 2025 Bowman is the first good player that's been the case for in years.
I'd expect James Wood and Roki Sasaki to get repeat RC autos, albeit that I suspect they will be limited to /75 yellow parallels and less. Keep in mind that Bowman CRA autos are one of the few things in the hobby that has escaped parallel creep. They will probably have some SSSP'ed base autos, but I'm expecting a total of maybe 250 cards each. Kurtz will probably have more, but still not expecting /499s for him, so just blue /150s and below. CRA checklists are typically only 12-15 names long; they do the dilution through the prospects, since they can get random 5th rounders and marginal international prospects to sign 3,000 cards without complaining about it too much. So Cam Smith, Drake Baldwin, Jacob Wilson, Kristian Campbell, Mick Abel, and Matt Shaw seem like locks to me out of the TC list (and I'm probably missing one or two guys.) Could see a repeat for Dylan Crews also, he would still have had a good bit of hype when they had to finalize the checklist 3 or so months ago. Don't ask me about the quality of the prospect list, I personally don't care about any prospect that isn't in the top 10-15 of people's lists and don't go hunting for trouble. That said, I have a big ol spreadsheet I use to track the history of the important Bowman CPAs, and as far I can tell we've only had three 1st autos that have been worth a flip in the last five years before this one - Leo de Vries last year and Jackson Chourio and Jackson Merrill in 2022. It would have been four before Ethan Salas torpedoed his career with injuries. I suppose you could point to Samuel Basallo in 2023 also, but the hobby really, truly does not care about catchers - his recent sales of PSA 10 1st CPAs are barely north of $200. |

I fully expect this to be a blood bath and an obnoxious checklist with a ton of randoms and repeats, but I am excited.
The SSP the RC autos is one of the most maddening things and I will never understand. I will never get why they dont make base RC autos of people |

It's absurd, Upper Deck has been doing this right for a decade. |
There is certainly no int'l prospect this cycle that is an obvious Top 100 candidate. There are guys putting up nice numbers in the DSL and/or got $3mm+ signing bonuses last off-season, but no De Vries. I'm sure a couple will emerge over the next 12 months, but there is Jesus Made-type guy who's a consensus top talent who's missing a first Bowman auto at this juncture.
I. E no prospect is going to command $250 for a chrome auto out of the gate, so you'll get killed opening boxes. |

Who is a consensus big name prospect that would command $250 out of the gate a la Chourio or Salas? |

I fully expect him to take off this offseason as he'll be at or near the top of virtualy every prospect list. The only thing that can derail him at this point, IMO, is getting called up in a week or two and performing poorly. That's a pretty big risk though... |

I feel like we've seen a pretty significant rationalization in prospect prices outside of the guys that go in the first 5-10 picks of the draft. Most of the guys at the top of the lists right now - McGonigle, Basallo, Made, Max Clark, even like Leo de Vries - feel pretty reasonably priced. There's some significant part of the hobby (that's more casual) that treats the MLB Draft like it's the NBA or the NFL, since it's getting sold that way now, even though it really doesn't have that much to do with who is actually got a chance to be good once they hit MLB. |
Questions: Is this almost considered a Series 2 for Bowman?
I assume those who had a Bowman 1st Chrome in regular Bowman won't have the 1st designation, and there will be new 1st's who wern't included in Bowman regular? Also prospects that have debuted before the Topps deadline will now have RC designation? |

There will be plenty of players with base cards in Bowman Chrome that had their 1sts in Bowman, and these will NOT be 1sts. AFAIK they will not put players whose 1st autos were this year in the Chrome Prospect Auto checklist Bowman Chrome, although they can be in insert sets. There will be some number of players that had prospect cards in Bowman that will now be on the major league side of the checklist in Bowman Chrome, and those cards will have the RC label. It makes it confusing later on, but you can see this going back with other guys that were Opening Day type debuts like Bobby Witt and such. |
bump for today's presale. Any updates on who may be in this or the price?

Sadly, neither of those things matter anymore. |
Bowman Chrome was great when it wasn't international prospect edition.
Can't get excited about more Juan's and Yohans that flame out before Draft drops. Yeah yeah, 2016 is rare. |
Does that say $279.99?
31148 boxes loaded. 330 cases. |
cannot update cart???
|
Any bounties this year?
