Tarik Skubal
How does this guy not have his own thread? He's filthy!
He actually walked 2 batters last night which for him is terrible. Sub 2.0 ERA currently. I really enjoy watching him pitch. |
probably because he is a pitcher
but since you are pumpiing him (isnt this how it works?) its ok :) |
probably because he is a pitcher

Kingman AZ finally has a famous former resident besides Tim McVeigh!

I'll have to catch myself up on that. |
As a Tiger fan, we love him. :) He has been an absolute stud these past few years. The talk is what it would take to resign him. He will be a free agent after next year and is a Boras client. He puts 3 CY Young level seasons in a row together, his contract will be enormous. That is talk for next year.
It sure is nice when he gets on the bump, he will cut off any losing streak. |

Don't bother. Clarke has already been forgotten about. |
Gonna make a good Met or Dodger next year.

Does anyone actually make a good Met? |
One of my favorite current pitchers. I've got a lot of RPA stuff and Sapphire.

“10/425” is a combo making the rounds lately
|
I saw him pitch in 2021, he was absolutely lights out. Unfortunately it happened to be the same game Ohtani hit HR #40 (off a reliever) and also pitched 8 innings and got the W, so his performance was completely overshadowed.
|
Top 3 pitcher for sure :)

After de Grom and Mason Miller? |

I have heard that number as well. If you wait until his current contact runs out he will be 30. So contract of 42.5 million a year for age 30-40 seasons. For reference Cole got a 9 year with 36 per starting at age 30. So not that far out of line. Of course Cole is out for the year this year. You would almost have to expect Skubal to be injured one of his years. Not my money of course, but I wouldn't want to pay a pitcher 42 million a year throughout is late 30's. That being said, you don't get these windows to win and have a legit front line stud very often. I am fine with pushing chips in the next few years while we have a ton of cheap players and go for a World Series. You win one and having a crappy team in 2030 is easy to swallow. Kershaw hasn't been much since about age 32, Scherzer 36, Verlander 36 with a resurgence at 39. If you give Skubal the 10 year contract, you are basically hoping for Cy Young level for the first 5/6 years and get a World Series out of it and just eat the last four bad years. Just like Tigers did with Cabrera. |

My one good Skubal card. Pulled it out of a box in 2022 I think. It was actually on my trade list until last year, forgotten about until someone showed interest in it and I realized it was no longer worthless lol.
Got it graded this year and it only got a 9 unfortunately. Still not a high value card, but I'll hold onto it for a while and hope he continues to dominate. |
Best pitcher in baseball since start of last season:
25-6, 2.26 ERA, .885 WHIP, 178 ERA+ Well on his way to 2nd CY. Every great pitcher has a dominant run, we could be in the middle of Skubal's. |
There’s simply not enough Skubal cards in this thread. Does no one collect him?
|
If he was younger he would have a lot more hobby appeal.
|

People flip pitchers, they don't collect them. P.S. - I want a Skubal Topps Black RC. |

I don’t have a scan of my copy of my favorite Skubal card, so I will have to borrow one.
I purchased this deliberately, so I definitely inve$ted - a whole dollar. But since it’s not in a delicate plastic tomb to protect it forever and ever, no one would care about my copy anyway. But it’s my favorite Skubal card because, Kirk Gibson.
