What active MLB player has the smoothest swing in baseball?

Ken Griffey Jr. has one of the smoothest swings in MLB history.

What active player comes closest to his smooth stroke?

In contrast, who currently has the most violent swing in MLB baseball?

Kyle Tucker has a smooth swing. He even played Ted Williams in a documentary, partislly because of their similar swing: https://www.newyorker.com/sports/sporting-scene/in-search-of-a-swing-like-ted-williams

Belle had a violent swing? It seemed quite graceful and fluid. I remember mimicking it as a kid. He had a big load as result of holding the bat out in front of him. He was very direct to the baseball on his swing, and his follow-through was quite graceful.

Even though Griffey had a graceful follow-through, his swing was kind of long and very violent. He generated a lot of torque and the bat would violently whip through the zone.

Harper's swing has been known to be one of the most violent in the sport, especially earlier in his career. He generates a lot of torque and whip in his swing, similar to Griffey back in the day.

Ohtani's is actually fairly graceful in comparison, with a bit of hitch and jerk to it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but maybe I just believed that he was violent in general, maybe scary is a better word. :D

90's violent is Gary Sheffield, and it's not even close.

sandyfrank 05-10-2025 01:45 PM

I hate the Astros but Yordan has a very sweet swing.

That Samurai swing was unique for sure. He was second on my list.

My vote goes to Kyle as well. I saw his swing years ago, and said “yeah this kids going to be good”.

Vlad Sr. gets my vote for most violent 90s swing. Vlad Jr. has that, too.

Smoothest swing 90s was definitely Griffey Jr., currently I would have to say it's Cody Bellinger.

I find it funny, almost all "Smooth" or Beautiful swings are from Lefties

boxbuster7 05-10-2025 04:12 PM

I'd say Aaron Judge is a dark horse

And yet big and sweeping.

ReggieBush22 05-10-2025 06:48 PM

Yeah, there was nothing smooth about Canseco's swing. Just a lot herky, jerky stuff before connecting. Almost like he forced the ball out the park through sheer force.

REGGIE206 05-10-2025 06:51 PM

I’ve always loved Will “The Trill” Clark’s swing!

How about most beautiful right handed swings?

McGwire's was pretty smooth IMO.

I second Judge. It's so efficient.

Smoothest of all-time for me is Will Clark.

Cavs16 05-10-2025 09:34 PM

Jackson Merrill's swing has to be up there

I had to Youtube a McGwire HR swing today because of this thread; short, efficient and incredibly powerful.
