Do you avoid teams when prospecting?

To elaborate on the title, are teams whose prospects you steer clear from simply because of their track record of poor player development?

If I wasn’t a Cardinals fan, I don’t think I would mess with a single young player. Another year, another young guy sent down to the minors after a slow start. I would hate to be holding the bag on some of these guys.

The Angels piss poor farm system comes to mind. So I'll start with them

The Rangers and pitching prospects. Seems to be getting better, but track record is awful. Kevin Brown and Kenny Rogers are probably the 2 best they’ve produced.

And both of guys have a no hitter in their career, iirc Rogers a Perfect Game.
Brown a hit batter shy back in 97.

Cabrera, Stanton & Yelich way back when not too shabby.

I’m still awaiting Jesus Sanchez to emerge, there are days he got the goods.

But yeah, the last 10+ years they’ve been putrid.
And some moron named Mike Hill traded Luis Castillo twice and Josh Naylor for peanuts.

The Rockies have a solid track record of pitchers who do well in the bigs once they leave the organization - see Boone Logan, Tommy Kahnle, Collin McHugh, Tyler Matzek, Tyler Anderson, Carlos Estevez, Jeff Hoffman, Justin Lawrence.

I think you have to consider the team but not avoid it. I'm into a view Dodgers Prospects but understand that the team is loaded so where exactly are they going to play? I tend to look at the MLB starters contracts, off-season signings or re-signings and go from there. The same applies to the Yankees. Sometimes there just isn't room as a starter but there could be as a bench or platoon player.

The Athletics.

Yep, Rogers’ was a perfect game, only one in Rangers history. Wasn’t drafted as a pitcher but as a middle infielder.
