Kind of, but 2006 still miles ahead

What is the point of contenders without anybody signing? I will pick up a few guys on the bay. I wouldnt spend the money on the hobby boxes.

If you want something affordable to rip this was the one to buy. You could have just bought a FOTL box for $272. The auction was very vague and no checklist but it looks like you get an extra auto and the autos and parallels from FOTL are numbered to 49 or less this year.

Serious question: does anybody care about this release?

In years past there would be a ton of engagement about Contenders Football.

I find the lack of responses surprising. Not sure if that is just the Blowout posters or an overall reflection of the hobby/Panini.

I'm mostly curious to see what happens this one as far as the checklist goes. Can't imagine Panini is going to stretch themselves much to include any oddball players like usual as they're on their way out. Guessing it'll largely be the same guys they already have stickers of.

The football market for wax has absolutely tanked the last couple months.

Look at where 2024 class is in comparison to 2023 at this point last year.

-Jayden Daniels better than Stroud.
-You could make an argument that Nix, Maye, Penix, McCarthy, and Caleb are all on par or higher than Bryce Young. They are all higher than Richardson or Levis were.
-Harrison and Nabers higher than any 2023 receiver.
-Bowers higher than any 2023 tight end.

Yet every single 2024 wax product is currently selling lower than 2023 was at this point last year. 2023 Contenders FOTL specifically sold out at over $500 a box! That was with none of the QBs having autos! At least Penix and McCarthy have autos. 2024 sold out at $272 a box.

I randomly caught a WM restock yesterday, where the vendor packed-out (literally!!) 40+ blasters of this junk (eg. over 2 blaster cases worth)! 10 guys were initially in the que for the restock, [I]and [/I],...I spent another 20-30 minutes doing some odds & ends shopping. Between the initial wave of 10 doing their "snatch & grab",...plus....once I had finished shopping, nary a [I]single blaster box[/I] had been scooped up. So based on that small, yet indicative bit of reality, I'd reasonably-opine with a emphatic; [B][I]NOPE[/I][/B]!

Wild. This, along with NT have always been my favorite releases and I have ZERO interest in it. None. Looks like breakers are saying 6/11 for a break? I guess so maybe it releases then? No direct confirmation anywhere.

Buying blasters is a fool's errand for this, unless you want worthless base cards.

I know they are on the way out... but... Panini really has given up, yeah?

6/11 is on the BO calendar. FOTL was put up for sale last week, and it looks like some retail is out there already, so I would assume 6/11 is the date.

Just in general, I imagine it's hard to build hype around a product 4 months after the Super Bowl and over a month after the 2025 draft. I'd say their inability to get stuff out thanks to Fanatics has been the ultimate undoing, not necessarily their lack of care. I'm sure they wanted this out 5 months ago like it used to be but they've been unable to hit dates for a couple of years now.

That's fair. And maybe this is the hidden hand of Fanatics delaying the process, "stealing" prospects with exclusive contracts.

But even on Panini's site there isn't a release date that I can see. That's not too hard.
