No judgment - I'd love to know who here is buying this product?

Even singles?

No. I passed on Base Chrome and Sapphire but am picking up singles/refractors of those. This one (and Finest) I am not even bothering with the singles.

It's a niche set, even in baseball

The planetary pursuit set collecting chase is pretty cool but not much else exciting about it

SkolVikesCards 03-21-2025 12:41 PM

Thought it was horrible in basketball, think it’s horrible here too. Everyone is buying Topps for the exclusive autos, and the autos here fall 1 in 3 boxes? Gross

bojesphob 03-21-2025 01:50 PM

Reminds me some of some of the Fleer sets from the 90s

I think the no logos and the weird oversharpening and oversaturation of the photos are the most off putting part.

hairysasquatch 03-21-2025 01:57 PM

Flaming hot trash. A dumpster INFERNO!

kingofsnake 03-21-2025 02:12 PM

Another horrible Topps product.

Fanatics ruining the hobby one day at a time.

It's been pretty popular in baseball. But it thinks the first two years looked a lot better then this year.

boxbuster7 03-21-2025 02:21 PM

the year is 2034 and we are still getting jayden daniels topps chrome rookies

Why would anybody be buying horrible looking crap like this that doesn't have a NFL license?

CapMarvelous 03-21-2025 08:16 PM

I am looking forward to Topps getting the NFL license, but not for cards like this. Even modern Finest looks like this, just odd and certainly not what Finest used to be.

This is very 2014-15 Topps FIRE to me.

I did the same, but skipped on sapphire. It's funny, some people like finest better than chrome, but chrome just feels and looks well made. As far as autos go for this rookie class that didn't sign with panini, I think chrome's going to be the go-to for higher dollar autos and finest continues to fill the "cheap auto" market. I even bought an /99 ladd auto the other day. Am I a chargers fan? no. Was $55 too cheap to pass up? I hope so.

Every product is geared to a certain market demo. In regards to topps in general, it's the only topps product with autos from the best part of the year's rookie class, so anyone wanting an auto will be buying something.

dantheman514 04-18-2025 11:11 AM

This is up at Topps for $280 per hobby box. https://www.topps.com/pages/topps-chrome-football

majestik101 04-18-2025 12:13 PM

And

Sold Out

Shocker.

jmarascojr 04-19-2025 07:19 AM

I watched the Geoff Wilson break of this yesterday...

They opened two boxes and the collation was absolutely terrible, they were pulling the same players from the same location in each box.

Their SP/box hit was also in the same location in both boxes.

Still gotta love how breakers get excited over a $5 refractor and make it sound like they made their money back and then some...

slyguy 04-19-2025 08:35 AM

This is trying to be even worse than inception 2024.

2024 Cosmic Chrome Football

This stuff is a riot to rip !! Maybe it's not for everyone but it's a good time for a reasonable cost.

Inception has been quite popular

Ninotores 04-25-2025 10:58 AM

The thing that gets me is 4 auto's per case. What? The only reason people are buying unlicensed Topps this year are for the auto's they can't get with Panini. How do you keep those from being at least 1 per box. I'll admit I don't mind the design of these....I'll even say they're kind of cool and different. But with such a low chance at an auto, I'm good.

That’s a very good point. I get how Topps is keeping with its Cosmic Chrome theme in which the chase is the PP inserts and numbered parallels over autos, but that’s a bad move with the unlicensed basketball and football versions given that the exclusive autos are what buoy interest in those products.

CardClub2Elect 04-27-2025 09:50 AM

Is there any idea of print runs/pop count for the big 4 QB auto this year from Topps? I know Topps is a little more transparent than Panini with pack odds and stuff but when it comes to the unnumbered autos, I don't know if there is any idea. I really liked the Inception release and picked up a couple of low numbered (/25) Maye and Nix autos that I liked. I wasn't buying for flipping or anything like that so I'm not too concerned with value. I just got back into collecting in the last year and just thought it would be cool to have 1 auto from each of the big QB's from this class. For those that flame out, it will make for a cool "remember this guy" story and for those that become stars it will obviously be cool to have a rookie auto if theirs, even if unlicensed.

I can't fault Topps/Fanatics but the releases continue to come and more and more autos are flooding the market. I'm not breaking the bank on what I'm buying but just trying to figure out the buying window with more autos hitting the market and prices dropping but pre-season coming up in August and prices going back up.

I know some people will just say that the Topps stuff is unlicensed crap and will be worth nothing in a few years. That's fine if thats the case, I'm just having fun. I guess I'm just thinking more short term. If all these cards are worth nothing I'm a few years, it's okay, I'll still have them and there are certainly worse ways I could have spent my money.

The print runs can't be any worse/more than what would be in Panini. Look at it that way. Topps has fewer products this year so those products have better odds. But overall I don't think they're flooding the market per se, any more than Panini would with their 82 releases. It's just Topps is putting out just as many auto's with 10 releases. And those better odds help them sell more product, since they need something to bring in buyers being unlicensed. I don't get the hate. Would I prefer licensed? Sure. But some of these look fine. Topps Chrome autos this year are some of the nicest looking cards I've seen personally.
