Stan Lee Mail Day and Question

I just received this in the mail and this will probably be the coolest piece I’ll own in my PC. The letter makes it that much cooler to me. Just curious if anyone has any info on these. I see a couple others on eBay, but does anyone know how long Marvel / Stan Lee did this for?

I wouldn't assume too long.
1999/2000 was the .COM boom.

Once this opportunity was posted on internet chat boards, Marvel would have probably been overwhelmed and shut it down. With that said, Stan was still signing comics through-the-mail for fans in 1999, but I mailed a trading card around then and he never returned it. Soon after 2000 Stan stopped signing through-the-mail altogether because he had gotten so popular at Conventions (and learned he could charge). This is just anecdotal. Good pickup (especially with the letter)

Thank you very much for the info! That does provide some good insight. I really appreciate it!

In the 90s Marvel had stacks of Stan Lee signed items to send out to fans. No-Prizes, trading cards, greeting cards, comics, etc. They sent out a ton of signed Christmas cards, for example.

This specific trading card, I'd guess he signed a couple thousand, but who knows?

He did sign free through the mail from around 1940 to 2000, so 60 years worth of random autographs out there. Then he signed for a fee for years at the conventions.

I've always said Stan Lee probably signed his autograph more than any other celeb out there as he signed anything and everything for around 80 years.

There were limited numbered editions of comics he signed in the 90s that were limited to 10,000 to 25,000 copies that sold on places like QVC during the comic book boom. The poor guy had to have had wrist problems.

Joe Jusko would give Stan a run for his money! Between all the cons, the zillion 92 Masterpieces items signed, including Dynamic Forces runs of 5k items here, 20k items there, etc…and all the comic covers signed.

But anyway OP that’s a great piece. Those Impel/Skybox Staff cards are neat, with Stan’s being the most special one. It’s a cool thing to have Stan’s auto on.
