Thats a cruel cruel punishment for the kid |
Topps reported the kid opened only one box to pull it. It was Hobby.

I like that it's a kid who pulled it -- better than an adult ripper. A box of TCU isn't cheap for a kid, though. I doubt they had $100 of chore money to spend on cards. |

This brings up a question I and many others have long wondered about -- did the candy store owner who sold Charlie the Wonka Bar with the Golden Ticket in the film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory know about it in advance?
The store owner, Bill, says to Charlie: "Why not try a regular Wonka Bar this time." The owner suggested and chose the exact bar he sold to Charlie. Likewise, could someone at Fanatics have made sure the Skenes Debut Patch was sold to a kid in LA? Like, the owner of the shop saw the kid in the store and suggested and chose the box with the Skenes card to give to them? It's all rigged, right? |

Damn. 12-years-olds be hustling on Whatnot. |

I don't know what Whatnot is, but I don't think I'd be proud of my kid making $1,200 on the internet video streaming. |
Why and how is Fanatics the first to know? 11 year old kid pulls this monster and first thing they do is call Topps, huh.
What percentage of hobby wax is still being ripped by individuals instead of breakers? <10%? Of that how much is being ripped by kids? I am reminded of the original media push for this card where Topps collaborated with the Pirates (remember when Fanatics was going host a card show at PNC) and Livvy Dunne (appeared at Fanatics Fest) and they tried to make it all look organic. |
I hope the story is true - would be a nice change of pace to see.

Yeah, but that 11 year old is about to go through some things spending a day with her. His voice gonna drop two octaves by the 7th inning. |

If it was a collector who opens at home, it would make complete sense that Topps was the first to know, when the redemption was entered. Topps used a stock photo in their posts about it, most of their other big card posts have the video or screenshot. |
