Has anyone noticed that the price of autographs rising!
Not sure if it’s clueless eBay sellers or sellers that want to pay their mortgage by selling autographs but to me it seems like asking prices on autographs on eBay are out of control! Particularly those in PSA/Beckett Slabs. Anyone else notice this?

They’re just riding the whims of the market.

Just saw the typo “riding” instead of “rising” (I just edited the title)

Ebay is a museum, not a place to sell product.

No no no! Dont start again. You’ve been good for awhile. (After I reported your behavior to the moderators) The moderators have been notified about you constantly harassing me on all of my posts, so just stop it already. |

Are the sale prices increasing? |
Are the sale prices increasing?
Hello and thanks for your response. It’s not the final sales price (completed sales) that is increasing but I’m noticing it’s the buy it now prices seem very high.(higher than normal) In regards to what cards im referring to. It’s signed PSA Topps cards in general that I search for on eBay that I noticed buy it now prices are higher (maybe because of the holiday season perhaps?) |

Very true! But the problem with high asking prices is that it’s hard to make an offer on an item because the seller wants close to the asking price!(most times) to be honest, I have had a couple sellers accept really low offers! Then I ask, why set the price so high if your accepting for example $40 cheaper than the listed price? |

They are fishing for a higher price than what most are willing to play. That is why it is always a good idea to make a reasonable offer for a card that is grossly overpriced with OBO. Most of the time they will not accept. 10% of the time they will. |

You are absolutely right. Most of the time they don’t accept my offers but a few times, to my surprise the sellers accepted my offers! Thank you for helping me figure this question out. It has to be because sellers are fishing for a higher price like you mentioned. Thank you again. I appreciate your help. |
I list some cards high to get watchers on them, then once I get enough watching, I begin gradually begin sending offers until someone accepts. I just sold one this morning at double the amount of the initial offers that I was receiving. If we're talking about rare cards, and unless you need the money, I don't know why people don't do this instead of running auctions.

Manipulation. You think you got a "deal" by getting $40 off but really are just paying comps and the high-asking price achieved exactly what it was supposed to, and sold before similar priced cards. It's the same as when I sold sealed wax on marketplaces and figured I'd be fair and charge less than other and also make quicker sales....people lowballed anyway. As soon as I put prices same as everyone else and just accepted lowballs at the price they were before, they sold and quickly lol people love the illusion of a deal. |

Oldest marketing trick in the book (high markup, offer a huge "discount"). Same reason why almost all grocery stores offer a BOGO offer vs 50% off everything: people think buying 1 and getting one "free" is a better deal than buying 2 items for 50% off, even though the bottom line price under both offers is exactly the same. Human psychology is something else. |

If you like eBay pricing, you're gonna LOVE pricing at The National when it pops back up... Some signers have 15 different categories of products they'll sign, all different prices... And don't forget extra for inscriptions... And then to get them authenticated... My favorite is Joe Montana, he even has a line for stuff signed by Tom Brady :flex: |

Sometimes I see a card that I feel is overpriced so I'll simply add it to my watch list. About 25% of the time, I'll get an offer at a reduced price within a week. I think some people start high and hope to be pleasantly surprised. Personally, I look at active and completed auctions and set my price a little under market value so I can hopefully get a quick sale and list something else. This is how I make the most of my 250 free listings per month. |
