2024 Topps Chrome Update Sapphire
 

Shows 12/10 release date on BO preorder. Has Topps released any info? I’m assuming an EQL but haven’t seen any release info.

Pre-sale to monty members and those boxes have shipped already so it should release on Wednesday. I am sure it will be EQL.

Looks like some have got boxes in with live boxes on ebay. Could a monty member open one today? I am not getting my one box until tomorrow.

this was one box. Coming from Maryland, I couldn't have asked for a better box. Merrill from Maryland and then Holliday... I will say there were a number of scratches, not just print lines. Also, the Holliday has a divet on the back that you can feel. Very excited about the cards, very disappointed with the QC. I'm probably sending the Holliday back to Topps and chancing it. Based on recent returns from PSA, it'll likely get a 7 or 8, at best.

Well thank God they aren't running an auction. Fanatics/ Topps are way better off having the product sell out in 15 seconds versus making way more money via auction and getting the product into the hands of the people that actually want it.

This is one of those rare products that I'd say is worth more than the price from last year. 69%? No. But they switched to on card autos. I'm telling you now, once people open this and realize the auto checklist is only 32 or so, the prices are going to skyrocket. I pulled the Holliday green auto /99. My color was a complete luck job in getting the Merrill /50, but in general, I got a lot of rookie debut cards. This is why I skipped regular topps chrome update. I just wanted this when I saw the checklist is smaller. For half the price of a hobby box where there's a 150 auto checklist, you get much better chance of a decent auto in this.

What do you guys think the secondary mkt price of this will settle at? Seems like the autograph checklist is better and tighter than regular 2024 sapphire, which sells for $600/700+ if you can find it.

Feels like topps has been standardizing production of sapphire to 10k boxes across all sports and also standardizing the guaranteed auto/3 parallels in every box. All of which has made recent sapphire boxes more expensive. This one feels like it might get a little (more) crazy.

It’s at $600 or so now. I’d expect it goes a little higher. This may be that rare wax box to hold in modern times. Base cards aren’t worth as much, but the Jacksons have their first Topps chrome sapphire base cards. Tough chase, but they’re there. This is honestly best auto checklist of the year I think. 32 autos, and Kyren Paris is not one of them. There’s a few questionable ones, but overall very solid.

350 is rough, but it’s better than regular tops chrome sapphire at 700. Plus, the better rookies have debuts. Yeah, not as valuable, but still something. I got the Merrill debut, base rookie and /50 in one box. I know that’s highly unusual, but if given the choice between this and regular chrome sapphire, with on card autos, if they’re the same price, I’d take this all day long.

I like that it’s not such a kick in the nuts that some folks will actually open it and make singles available to me. Finding parallels of the guys I want in TCS is a chore because the ROI is just so hideous that even the most degenerate of wax guys are like
“Nah dude, I’m good on that one”
A 700 card sapphire set with 32(28?) cards in a box for hundreds of dollars is just next level hideous odds to find anything nice.
