Payment options at shows

I'm a long time buyer and seller on Ebay but don't often go to shows. I'm going to the Chantilly show this weekend and will have a reasonably large budget to buy some stuff (a few thousand dollars).

What's the best way to do make these types of purchases at shows? I'm not about to walk around with a few grand of cash in my pocket but am also worried about connectivity at a big show. Is PayPal / Venmo accessible and/or a viable option for payment?

Maybe its a dumb question but don't want to get there and end up not being able to pay for anything the way the dealers want.

Most dealers prefer cash. As the saying goes - "Cash is king".

Some will take Venmo or another form of "electronic" payment, but as a dealer myself, I usually try not to take an "electronic" payment for anything above a few hundred dollars to minimize risk of someone trying to chargeback or claim a fraudulent transaction.

Carrying cash at shows is very common. It is not rare to see buyers pull out 10s of thousands in cash for a transaction. But, if you're not comfortable carrying cash, most venues have an ATM inside, or you can see if you have a local bank branch nearby just in case you need cash to make a purchase.

Bring cash

Bring cash. I hadn't been to a show in a long long time and went to the Chantilly show this past March and as I was walking in I overheard some person talking to a friend on the phone commenting that he was blown away that some "kid" just handed him 15k cash for his card. Cash is the norm for shows for many reasons. Just use the same precautions you would anywhere else you might carry a large amount of cash.

I don't recommend the ATM / local bank because then you might deal with lots of 20s and that's really annoying....unless it makes sense for what you're planning to buy.

Thats ok, as long as you’re ok coming home empty-handed.

Are the dealers at these shows always buying? I've never been to a show and was thinking of going this weekend. Was gonna bring a handful of somewhat valuable cards to try and make a little money.
