Anyone seen these insane "Walmart Mystery Boxes" for hockey?
 

I haven't ripped or seen these but unless there is a huge Reddit hoax or pump going on they have been nuts. Seen these produce Wayne Gretzky on-card autos, full Black Diamond hobby boxes, crazy hobby packs, the S2 hanger which isn't bad seems to be one of the worst hits.

Just wondering if anyone has ripped one as this is still a super-small sample size and I'd like to know what some other mystery items could be or if it's either the hanger or a big hit.

My opinion is that they are selling a lot of these (Walmart's obviously a huge distribution channel for them and source for new product for collectors/flippers), so what we're seeing is...

1) The few good results. Not everyone will flock to reddit to post their lackluster pulls. Buyer beware, as usual. These products historically have been poor and there's no reason to think they're going to cut into their ROI as a gift to the humble sweaty masses. Random big hit to drive social media posts is how they advertise, so there has to be at least a few 'chase' cards pulled from those boxes or the word gets out quick they're all junk [which did hurt of a few of these releases in recent past].

2) If we want to be conspiratorial, they could be stocking their 'best' boxes now and will restock with all the detritus in the coming weeks/months to cash in on the hype generated by the good boxes. This is what lack of mandated/expected transparency buys us.

I also notice the reddit hockey card channel has a higher than average number of new product purchasers, probably not the most objective sample size. For every "I got meh in this box" post there's a couple "I'm am a golden god" posts where the poster claims things like "only pack I've ever bought in my life", etc. Just realize human nature rarely admits wrong and the social media culture has trained us to only post positive, self promoting material.

Even this post will irk some to think "how dare you suggest that I'm not f$%!ing awesome!" :p

I've never seen anyone post the type of hits from these mystery boxes for others even "good ones" so if anyone that has actually ripped one can provide input it can either boost or kill the argument. I never remember seeing 17-18 Black Diamond boxes in those tins or whatever other hockey mystery items, or Gretzky autos, if someone can post as big chases in previous mystery items that would also be appreciated.

These people are clearly undercover MJ Holdings employees though paid to pump these even though they actually suck so I won't mention these terrible boxes anymore

If you like 10 year old score and victory and the last few years of flagship retail you'll love this product.

Pretty sure 99.99% of it is a "hangar box" (aka the old fat pack) of S2 to give people the warm and fuzzies along with about 5 packs of trash.

People who make repack products don't do it to lose money.

All I know is the series 2 Hanger boxes are complete garbage. I would sell those sealed all day every day.

If you watch the If Sports Cards Top 10 retail pulls of the month you'll see someone pull a huge Crosby card from one, but yeah, those are unicorns. Zeeree opened a couple in his latest video.

they are absolute garbage. Opened 4 out of boredom. Waste of time and money

The "for some reason" part should be obvious.

The two Walmart stores here in Burlington, ON get these boxes and everyone of them has been ripped open and anything worth taking is missing ... it happens a lot here I've brought boxes to customer service enlightening them on this ongoing problem they shrug their shoulders at don't do anything ...

zeeree-a youtuber who I like opened 2 boxes and there were about $15 combined worth of hits. I think a Joel Hofer yg was the best. I know there's a lot of negativity in the world but I like his box breaks and love that he includes what he's looking for and what the hits are worth in real time. They are in candian dollars though.

I'm sucker for these things though- I like the weirdness so I'll probably get a few.
