Buyer asks to ship to different address AFTER mailed
What do you guys do when you send a ESE and right after you have already mailed it. The buyer sends you a message a couple days later saying “oh, I just noticed that I have the wrong address on ebay” and then asks if I can send it to another address that he gives me? I wasn’t sure so I told him it’s already in transit and I could cancel the order and refund him then he can repurchase it with his updates address. After I refunded, he never came back to repurchase it and ghosted me now! What can I do if this situation occurs again?

Bless your heart.

Not sure what that means but…OK! |
Too bad so sad for buyer if it has shipped. If it comes back i refund minus shipping cost otherwise tough #@#@#@#@. If I have not shipped I usually cancel block and report to ebay. Ebay will remove any neg in this situation and as long ad itshows delivered to the address on payment you are covered. If you ship to a different address you lose protection.send to an address other

Thank you my friend for this advice. Now I know what to do if this situation comes up again. My initial thinking was to just refund the buyer because I had a gut feeling that because with ese the tracking isn’t reliable that this guy was going to a problem buyer and say he never received it (even if he did). Learning as I go. I appreciate everything that you have taught me. |

Even if the buyer did this, you would still file PIP for reimbursement. |

He’s saying you’re being naive. You need to do research before acting. A little research and you would have found that it under ebay’s TOS you are only to ship to the address associated in with the buyers account. Further research and you would have found that buyers asking for you to ship to another address is a scam. Even more research and you would have found that under any sort of situation where a buyer wants to change something after the order has been shipped, you don’t refund until you have the card back in hand. You are under no obligation to act immediately. You have at least 4 days before you need to make a decision. That’s enough time to do research or ask a question here. |
Not sure what that means but…OK!
I think he means that selling on eBay isn't for everyone.....you should have posted here and asked your question before you refunded. You got scammed, only thing to do now is try to file for the PIP insurance, but if buyer didn't open up an INR claim you could be out of luck there. |
Yeah, it's crazy that you ask a million pre-emptive questions about the best selling strategies, and then when something like this happens, that should raise many questions in your mind,......nothing.
|
What even is going on here? You cancel it after it was sent out for it to be repurchased and sent again? How does that even work since it’s…in transit. What am I missing here.
Either way you should not have refunded this probable scammer. |

It is odd. |

Just learning by trial and error. Now if this situation comes up again I know what to do. Yes, I should have asked here first before refunding but I thought ebay wants sellers to resolve customer problems quickly. But lesson learned. I try to learn something new everyday. |
you might want to look at selling on comc so you do not have to deal with buyers

Yes! This exactly. After this incident I was 100% thinking that this eBay selling might not be for me and that it might be best for me to just box up my cards and just send everything to comc. I think comc would be better for me as I can just send my cards and forget having to deal with customers, scammers, non payments, AND not having to ask a million questions on here. I can just sell on comc without the hassles. I think comc will be a good solution for me. |

eBay is fine. I hate dealing with people and I have had very few issues. Just list things at BIN (Buy it Now) and don't take offers. If in the rare occurrence you have issues like this, just post here and see what others would do. |

Please don't use ebay especially if you think something like this is catastrophic. Had you used your brain common sense would have told you. Ebay has nothing to do with this in fact they have measures to protect you in these cases but you screwed yourself. Only one to blame looks you in the mirror everyday. This is like the most common scam and it's very rare. Very easy to find out what not to do |
