2024 topps update should be loaded! Right?
Little early to be talking 2024 Topps Update Flagship but seeing that Series 2 was a bit disappointing with the RC's everyone was looking for (they are just SP's), that means that these same rookies should have standard RC's in Update to go along with Series 1 & 2 RC Debuts and RC's of the players who debuted after Opening Day until May 31st.
I may have missed some but the list of RC's in 2024 Update should include (some potentially saved for 2025 Series 1): Holliday Manzardo C. Keith W. Perez Loperfido A. Martin Bliss Clase Foscue Langford Beck A. Pages T. Black Chourio J. Jones Skenes C. Scott Merrill Pauley V. Scott Leiter Y. Rodriguez B. Brown Some big ones here to chase and get parallels/autos of. Let me know what you guys think. Will 2024 Update be as big as 2022 Update when we had Julio and Bobby?? |
Skenes is the only big one from that list. Holliday base SP from series 2 is $65. The others are $40-45. First flagship being SP and ongoing bad production from these guys will kill any interest.

I can see that end too. I guess we'll see from the rest of the years performance from these guys in the MLB and in the minors if the interest increases or decreases. |
Thing is, we won’t really know for about 4-5 years if this is a great list or a poopy list.
|
And if you doubt that, consider that a PSA 9 Witt Black sold for just $820 in April. Based on that, I think you’re talking max fair value of $250-300 for the Black of anybody outside of Skenes.

Hi
I know 2024 Topps Update Baseball wont be out until October.. Currently Paul Skenes Rookie cards will be in this product and we could possibly see KYLE MANZARDO / COLT KEITH / WENCEEL PEREZ / JOEY LOPERFIDO and a few others if they get called up soon. at $250 / hobby box doesnt it sound to good to be true? Skenez Base Rookie will probably sell for $50-$75 while Manzardo-Keith could be in the $25-50 range. By this time PSA should have a $35-50 grading level Any thoughts on the potential of this product as well as the current price? I think it could be one of the hottest products if not the hottest of these past years. |

OP has a generous definition of “loaded”.
|
I dunno...that seams loaded to me. A lot of superstar potential with Skenes, Langford, and the three Jacksons.

His second TJ??? It's definitely under 3 years for TJ #1. |

Yes, but hasn't there been a precedent set with Topps in recent years where stars are being held back from the Update set so they can have RC's the following year?
I'm remembering Adley Rutschman who debuted in May from a few years ago - by all means he should have been in Update, and yet he was held back. Same thing with Elly De La Cruz - had an early debut and nothing in update. |
You know they are going to hold Skenes for 2025 S1. Who else do they have to carry that product?

He has RC logo on Topps Now. He will be a RC in Update. |

Skenes will be in Update. It’s confirmed. |
it will be interesting with Jacksons cards for sure with him having so many different First Topps Cards in Series 2 AND all the publicity surrounding them

While Topps’ deadline is admittedly blurry and slightly moving target every year, both those dates are well past the current established deadlines. The days of a player debuting on, let’s just pick a random day, July 8th, and being in Update are long gone. |

Yes. Fanatics made his Update card nearly irrelevant. The SPs from Series 2 will command all the attention. Not the parallels in Update. |

good point. in years past a player who had his First Topps Card in Series 2 would still have a "strong" following for their parallels in Update. |
The days of a player being traded in July and appearing in Update are also gone. Instead they appear in S1 on the team they were traded to but no longer play for and then the next Update on the team they signed with as a Free Agent 10 months previously. But none of those have RC logos anyway.

They really screwed the pooch by releasing so many different SPs. I haven’t seen anybody say with any certainty what a reasonable print run is for any of the versions. When releases are this confusing, they run the risk of being ignored by most. |

absolutely. i have no interest in all the versions. i would like non-gem copies of his First Topps and the Fun Face. |

So you won’t be in on any Update? |
