Fan Who Caught Ohtani’s 1st HR Pressured to Give it Back
Interesting article - if correct, this is pretty crooked. If I’m not mistaken the ownership of the ball is of the fan who acquired it and being offered a couple autographed hats is ludicrous and twisted.
Edit: clarification - first Dodgers homerun https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10115666-dodgers-fan-who-caught-shohei-ohtani-hr-says-team-pressured-her-to-give-up-ball |
Why? It took the guy 9 games to hit one. He's no Joey Gallo.
I read the article about it on The Athletic and the fan alleged that the Dodgers threatened not to authenticate the ball if she left with it, making it worthless.
Settling for 5 unauthenticated Ohtani autos and not even a meet and greet definitely sucks. I’m sure with all the publicity, she’ll get more stuff. |
Sucks if true, but I have a feeling Ohtani will make it up to her. Does anyone even know if he cares about having the ball?
I feel like that ball is worth at least $4.5 million.

...and that's why the Dodgers will NEVER win a legitimate World Series again. Serves them right.
Doyer mafia representing stadium security.
What’s a Pete Rose ball go for?
I would have told security to F off. Jackboot thugs.
Ohtani offered her a 30% profit boost on a same game parlay.
These teams are billion dollar organizations who can provide priceless experiences for fans in these situations for next to no expense. How hard would it have been to have escorted them down to the locker room for a quick meet and greet with Ohtani, some swag, and some tickets, in exchange for the ball?
& yet another reason I hate the Dodgers.
Dodgers come off absolutely terrible. Can't believe the fan took the deal after that hassle. What a fool. But if the threats of them not authenticating it are true, it seems they thought they were getting a good deal.
Wonder what would have happened if the person tried to walk out of the stadium. I bet they would've stopped her to authenticate it and it was just a scare tactic. |

Seriously -- a meet-and-greet to give him the ball is the bare minimum; come on, Dodgers. |
That guy has no negotiation skills. Ohtani gave his interpreter $4.5 million. I would have held out for a million for the ball
Should've told them to ask Ohtani if he wanted it, the ball for a Porsche straight up.
Only offer that makes sense is any increment of $500,000 in FanDuel credit. Unreal low ball by the Dodgers especially with Shohei already having an account set up.
Wow. Just wow. Can’t believe the deal was took. Received literally nothing for a priceless baseball. Just wow.
Sho did want the ball - he said so in the post game interview. I'm sure he had no idea in what circumstances it was acquired.
He will make it right with the fan. Give it till next homestand. |
Calling it now
Ohtani is somehow connected to the Yakuza |
Somehow, this is all Ohtani's fault  cesspool
What is the fan's recourse if they did not give up the ball? Also the Dodgers saying they would not authenticate it, what's the best for the fan?

He needed it back to settle a gambling debt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
If that story is true I hope she takes legal action against the team.
