FOTL on Thursday. This product was great in 2021-22, terrible in 2022-23. What’s it going to be this year?
|
Looks like they added more parallels, so production is up. Seems like they added a few more insert sets. Weird that Gala /8 RCs are now in this instead of Chronicles. Makes me wonder if they’re scrapping Chronicles or just trying to beef up Recon.
|
Galas have not been /8 since 20-21. Are they back to that?
|

They’ve always been /8… when it was a standalone set and every year of Chronicles. 2021-22 Chronicles Draft had unnumbered Gala cards, but NBA Chronicles in both 21-22 and 22-23 are /8. |
Pretty bad when the FOTL drops and nobody even comments on it lol.
Any idea what it "sold out" at? |

Any idea what it "sold out" at?
It speaks highly to the perception of the products Panini is currently churning out with no real concern of value. It's mostly white noise.....sticker auto's, no Wemby autos, jerseys not associated with any specific player, a multitude of parallels most of which nobody cares about, and......the price point doesn't remotely sync with the value obtained. If these had been at a price point similar to pre-pandemic prices you'd have seen a lot more chatter. Don't ever forget though that even at pre-pandemic prices (with less watered down content) you'd still be losing money 9 out of 10 boxes. Now its 99 out of 100 and the amount lost each box is higher  |

Website worked differently today, no high traffic alerts just spinning wheel when you tried to add. |
I was able to grab a case at 250, but was just into 250 and sold out right after.
|
Cards look improved and insert quality / auto checklist also improved IMO. Also like that about 1 in 2 Fotl boxes seem to have an extra fotl exclusive auto. Still a low to medium end product but panini seems to be improving the quality of the set.

They just made the Recon design super busy. Ugly in my opinion, the iconic Recon Rookie insert now horizontal and nothing similar. A pass.
|
Agreed. Not a fan of the design at all
|
This is sad, cause I came to appreciate the unpretentiousness of the 20-21 Recon base not equally, but similar to, overproduced flux. You can barely tell the 1/1 from the base, that is refreshing.
As far as inserts, yes flux was better on the balance, but for sheer beauty, Rookie Recon (all colors) is my number one. At least with the latest flux they maintained interesting inserts (though I haven't seen any in hand) and base integrity. But that was last year... I guess the Revolution wavy chromium supplier will want to mess that up this year as well. |
I was going to get into a GB but watch some breaks first.
Looks like hot trash so I’m out. Thank you influencers! |
the new ssp sets are pretty sweet looking, contours and fuzion.
|
I understand Wembymania but how can it justify prices being double of last year's?

Where in the world are you seeing this? 23-24 Recon hobby is actually selling below 22-23 Recon hobby. I don't know how but it is. You can buy a sealed case for $2150. $179 a box right now. There are somehow sales below that. |

I’ve collected Recon the past two years but right now I am passing even at these prices. The base cards just look ugly to me this year, and the auto checklist is just abysmal. The inserts look good, but I can’t justify buying boxes just for in the inserts. If they had a nicer base design and better vet autos I’d have bought some |

Sorry, had a brain fart and though of Flux. Don't be so mad moss. |

I feel the exact opposite. I think this is the best Recon has ever looked overall and it's not even close. Auto checklist for almost all 23-24 basketball products is close to meaningless. If no one cares about autographs and are paying over $1000 for certain boxes why would they care paying less than $200 a box? |
I did a case. Didn't love it. Feels very meh and the auto checklist, I shouldn't be surprised, has some...who the fook is that guy pulls.
Just a heads up, I pulled 1 Wemby base rookie. I think the rookies are a strong long term play in this release. |
