Burbank Sports Card Show
I saw Burbank was advertising 900 tables for the show at the end of the month. Is this the 2nd biggest show in the country or is there one bigger?
I'll be there hoping I find more 90s/00s cards! |
Have you been going to the Del Mar shows? I've gotten a monster 90s/00s high end Gwynn for a good price from the same dealer each of the last two shows.
I took Thursday off of work, so I guess I'll try out the VIP this show. I found deals here and there at the last Burbank show but nothing too crazy, and the deals were tough to find. A lot of significantly overpriced cards and some fair dealers who were still more than I was willing to pay. Looking forward to this one. |
I've been to both and didn't see any. Did you go Friday and beat me to them? Lol
|
I did for sure for one of them [2001 Elite Throwback Threads Jsy Auto w/ Musial]. Can't remember on the 1999 UD Retro Gold Auto. I won't make it till Saturday this time so it's all you if you go.

It will be at the Anaheim Convention Center across the street from Disneyland. I been to a ton of events at the Anaheim Convention Center, definitely no A/C issues there lol |
Will PSA or BGS do on site grading?
Will any of the major consigners be there to take cards back to then sell? |
I figure BGS will at least do RCR and believe PSA is doing "on site" grading by bringing the cards back to their offices to slab. A lot of excellent info here:

I went to the Burbank Card Show that was held in Ontario earlier this year and walked away without buying a single thing. As someone else mentioned, a lot of overpriced stuff. If the same dealers are going to be there again then I won’t bother with the traffic and parking hassle.
|
Bbce has been touting on their Facebook page that they are setting up and also accepting submissions for authenticating and also for their consignment service.
Only day I can go is Saturday. |

Have a feeling this is going to be more of the same. Lots of influencers with selfie sticks walking around toting Pelican cases full of Wander Franco, Ronald Acuna and J-Rod PSA 10's... I'm passing because OC traffic on the weekends is hell on earth, and tickets plus gas and parking, it will cost north of $50 just to get in the door. . . |

Big pass. Buy in the offseason.
As stated, gas + ticket = not worth for me |
Better off using they money to go see Ohtani before he's gone from Anaheim forever.

Is this the show thats run by the guy that calls himself the cardfather?

yes  - I'm going to pass. My friend that works at a so cal shop pointed out that admission is the same cost as the national. |
I plan to stop by and see if anyone has few cards on my want list. Hopefully, there won't be so many "Influencers" running around the show...
Admission price is bit high but that's been trend on a lot of card shows... Most of the show should be less than $10 admission unless they will be at big huge mega convention centers. |

Burbank show is no exception to dealers being overpriced for any shows. Questions will be does the dealer(s) have cards that you want to buy (selection), how much dealers will negotiate (price), and whether they will buy your unwanted cards (selling). I'm hoping that they will have selections with right price for my PC cards need. |

It probably will but probably less than National had. |
If those of us on the West coast want a large show, I think it makes sense to support the only group really trying to get one rolling. Why would the National or any other group try to get one rolling out here if a $20 ticket is a dealbreaker

Is a picture with Geoff Wilson worth $20? Keep asking myself that :D |

Rob Veres is one of the few hobby big wigs who is universally respected even by the biggest hobby haters. You have to search quite a bit to find someone who doesn't like Rob, so curious why your sentiment seems negative? |
My sentiment isn't negative. My opinion of Burbank is neutral. I'm just not driving to Anaheim and wasting my time to be charged $40+parking (+1) just to enter.
This isn't the national. This is a show being put on by a brick and mortar shop. |
