$30,000 goal for 2024 National
Never been to the National, but next year I'm going to take a large budget (for me, anyways) and I already know what I'm going to be looking for:
1985 PSA 10 Topps Mark Mcgwire Michael Jordan Bulls on-card auto Tom Brady Bucs on-card auto Shohei Ohtani/Mike Trout on-card auto What do you guys think? Think $30K will be enough next year? |
There was a poster on here talking about how he had a budget of $500 and him and his son still had fun.
You are on here saying you will be taking $30,000 and then asking if that is enough? What is happening to this hobby??? |
You’ll be good
|
Yeah you’ll be fine
|
2023 National is behind us buddy.

Weird flex but ok.

It's not a flex. I've been saving for several years and have been very stingy with spending. These are some cards I've wanted for a very long time (with exception of the Ohtani). I just see prices on Brady and Jordan very high and was seriously asking if this amount would be enough. |

I would imagine you could pick up an mj sor around 3-4 k there are several duals I’ve saw around 2-3k
Brady auto could be had around 2-3k easily At most that’s 10k do you think a juicer psa 10 will cost 20k if not There’s your answer |

I do my best with eBay but that's about the only place I know to look for cards. Ideally somebody has all four of the cards I'm looking for and I can do a deal in person. |

By then you’ll only need $15k.:coffee::coffee:

I'm just confused how you plan on dropping 30k but don't know the values of what you're buying. I feel like this thread is fake.
|
I'm not sure that anyone can tell you that $30k is enough in a year. It could be way too much or not enough depending on outside forces.
For example, if Ohtani stays in LA and that Mark Trout guy becomes something, that dual auto could get a lot pricier. |

There's a major premium for "Playing Days" autos (98 and earlier), and those will go for $15-20K+. If you're just looking for a generic Bulls on-card from mid-2000, then yeah, $6-10K is doable. |
$30K…? I’m taking that money and buying an Acura Integra Type R…! Much more fun than a piece of cardboard!
I’m an avid collector, but how some of you throw around that kind of money on cards is ridiculous and to me. Purely my opinion! |

"I want a Mike Trout"
"We have Mike Trout at home" Mike Trout at home... |
I appreciate the busting of balls over giving Trout the incorrect first name. I guess I was just thinking of McGwire as he was in my list also.
Thanks everyone for the productive comments. I'll definitely check in as we get closer to 2024 National. |
Having no idea on specific cards you could target, why isn’t eBay/Goldin/PWCC an option?
You can take your time to find exactly what card you want instead of waiting until next year and then search for days to see if anytime has what you’re looking for? Idk, I just feel like in 2023, you’d have more options throughout the year than a 5 day show. |
How about I get you those 4 cards and you give me 50% of whatever amount I come in under $30k?
