Per Shefty

Trade compensation, per sources:

Jets get:
Aaron Rodgers, pick No. 15, a 2023 5th-rd pick (No. 170).

Packers get:
Pick No. 13, a 2023 2nd-rd pick (No. 42), a 6th-rd pick (No. 207), a conditional 2024 2nd-rd pick that becomes a 1st if Rodgers plays 65 percent of the plays.

So much for 2 1sts. All they got was a swap of 1sts, and to move up 2 spots. And a first, is Karen doesnt retire. With a couple 2nd tossed in for good measure.

All that time for this big nothing burger of a trade?

I'm sure they wanted more and Rodgers talked all the leverage into the Jets' favor.

Oh Im sure of this. Every day camp came closer and closer, and the Packers were faced with what to do if Rodgers is still on the team. They were willing to take less and less.

Good on the Jets, for digging in. I think thats a solid deal of a rental, if your team is good right now.

Plus, if Rodgers gets reborn in New York, like he was when the Pack drafted Love. He might give them another 4 or 5 years of good ball.

anusinha 04-24-2023 03:44 PM

I guess this makes Trey Lance worth about 2 hamburgers without pickles

MSU Bulldogs 04-24-2023 03:46 PM

Jets basically got Rodgers for two 2nd round pics.
The 1st round picks from this year are pretty much a wash.

*whispers*

all this for a 39 year QB who wasn't even that good last year? ......

Did you watch Zack play QB?

longhornjunkie 04-24-2023 03:47 PM

So he'll wear #8 with the Jets. That'll look even weirder.

Edit: yeah, I know that was his college number... 18 years ago.

Joe Namath has given his blessing for Aaron Rodgers to wear No. 12. But if Aaron does that, he'd be a huge D-Bag. Well, an even bigger one anyway!

Yea, they just traded a 2nd round pick and a likely 1st next year for a 39 year old QB who had one of the worst seasons of his career.

Just because Wilson is trash doesn't make this any sort of good trade for them. They might as well trade for Lamar if you're trading this for Rodgers.

brothertona 04-24-2023 04:00 PM

They were literally bidding against themselves, no-one was trading that for Rodgers

You mean the guy that's always hurt and wants 250m guaranteed?

What is your definition of always?

Rodgers already has a gazillon guaranteed dollars going his way, and again, HE's ALMOST 40 AND WASN'T GOOD LAST YEAR!

Rodgers' recent history would suggest this is HIGHLY unlikely. He'll have to be all in on winning, like he was 10-15 years ago. Attend OTAs, work well with the coaching staff and scheme, and perhaps most importantly - learn to take what the defense gives him. He's too arrogant IMO to do any of the above.

Unless Rodgers gets injured, they did get 2 firsts.

Well net 1 first unless you look at moving up from 15 to 13 that valuable.

4-5 years, more like 4-5 months if he is lucky

13 is better than 15 and it cleared cap space. And now 3 picks in the top 45 this year.

lambeauleap87 04-24-2023 04:28 PM

I love this deal for the Packers - I said all along I expected them to get a first and a mid-round pick, and barring an injury or a mid-season sabbatical to host Jeopardy, they exceeded that.

The 2024 first is conditional only on Rodgers playing two thirds of snaps this season with no performance protections, plus a second this year, and the pick swap (which is the equivalent of pick #100). That's a really solid return given Rodgers's salary and longevity question marks.

All will be hall of famers based on the coverage on Thursday.

Eagle 04-24-2023 04:39 PM

The Eagles got more for an obvious broken and unfixable Carson Wentz. Maybe he should have forced his way outta GB earlier. Not great value overall for a guy who won 2 of the last 3 MVPs.
