Your best retail pulls?
 

Got to thinking about how much retail I've opened in my life for the relatively low number of big hits and thought it would be fun to see what others top retail pulls have been.

Here's the ones over last few years I can remember:

2020 Heritage Throwback Soto- Sold for $650
2021 Topps Chrome Green Auto Hayes /99- Sold for $300
2021 Platinum Anniversary Mantle SP- Sold for $475
2022 Topps Holiday Franco Auto Relic- Sold for $300

Years ago I pulled a Allen Ginter Red ink Auto of Ryan Howard that I traded for a UD Sweet Spot Auto of Jeter that I still have.

Downtown Brady, burrow, and hurts in 2020. Probably out of like 10 blasters. I had crazy luck.

I’ve pulled 2 Bryce Harper autographs. Stadium club chrome and gypsy queen. Gleyber Torres 2018 Topps chrome green auto, which was pretty huge at the time.

2019 Topps Chrome Acuna Kneeling gold refractor /50, or a bat down.

2007 Upper Deck Star Signings Roger Clemens out of a single pack of UD 2007

Have not bought retail that much but that would be the biggest hit

Topps Silver Ticket from a 2021 Topps Series 2 blaster - netted about $4000 from the sale of swag, cards, etc. but kept some stuff for myself.

Not baseball but pulled a zion prizm silver out of a $20 blaster box. Subbed standard service with Pcsportscards for $20. Card sold for $2,500-3,000. I can't remember. Talk about a massive return. 😳 good times.

SWEEET.

Years ago(around 07 or 08) I bought cardboard boxes of loose 2004 Topps chrome retail packs off eBay, like 600 packs as I recall for around .50 a pack. I ended up pulling two gold ref and 1 black ref of Yadier Molina RCs. I sold them long before they appreciated but looking back now those are probably my best retail hits.

2020 Topps Heritage Mike Trout red ink auto /71 (sold it for $750)
2022 Topps Chrome Shohei Ohtani gold auto /50 (still have)

2021 Mosaic Honeycomb Tom Brady

Pedri rookie auto /10 out of a $20 Merlin blaster during the soccer craze. Auctioned raw for $2800.

Best this year was lamelo ball rookie /10 mosaic out of a mega. I opened a decent amount of mosaic retail and the hits were very few and far between so this was a massive stroke of good luck. Only numbered card I’ve ever gotten out of mosaic bball retail. Graded as PSA 9.

2020 Bowman Chrome Green refractor Jasson Dominguez /99 out of a blaster, sold it for $550-$600. Also pulled his Bowman scouts /99 out of a blaster the same night, sold it for around $175

Not massive, but didn't know these were in retail:
2022 Series 2 Wander Franco home field advantage insert - blaster

Odds-wise, the Moncada black 1/1 was like 1:32k-something and the only 1/1 outside of plates I've pulled from retail. Also just recently pulled a Shane Baz RC variation orange speckle /25 from a 2022 Chrome mega box that was 1:28396 odds (why couldn't it have been Wander?).

Found 1 or 2 2020 Topps Chrome blasters left at Target one day and bought them. Pulled a Luis Robert RC auto redemption.

Probably a 2012 Series One single pack Ripken /10 relic. At least it’s a bat relic; those seem somehow more substantial to me.

Less notable is a 1/1 2017 Update (maybe S2) Platinum of Jorge Soler. It is kinda cool that Platinums go out in retail, but kinda not. This one surfaced in a little town closer to Canadia than any MLB stadium.

More notable was a hanger pack of 2019 Bowman purchased simultaneously with the above pull. That held the paper /250 purple of Wander Franco. Sold that way way too soon. But, Bowman been berry berry good to me, considering - that is the only Bowman product I have ever purchased.

Hanger pack pull. Currently sits in a PSA 8/9 auto holder, presumably because of said hanger pack. lol

Still cant believe PSA gave me a 9 on the auto

Best retail pull was one I had recently - a 2011 Bowman Chrome Refractor of Mike Trout, from an unopened blaster I had on my shelf for awhile. Sent it in to PSA and it Gem’d. Still their newest PSA 10 refractor rookie according to PSA.

2020 Yordan Chrome Purple Auto /250. Sold for $250.

Out of the only chrome packs I bought that year. Found them at a Walgreens. 5 packs.

It’s one thing to hit it back in the day, quite another to crack a modern wax investment gem like that and hit it all those years later!
