2022 Topps Heritage Minor League
I didn't see a thread for this product, so I thought I would start one, since the updated release date is exactly 2 weeks away (11/23).
The release date has moved up & down a few times. It showed October, then it was pushed out near Christmas, but then more recently it was updated to right before Thanksgiving. Hopefully it doesn't move again. This is one of my favorite cheap products, because for about $50 a box you get 2 on card autos & the checklist is generally pretty solid, but often only has about half of the guys you hoped for. I wonder how close the auto checklist will be to Topps Pro Debut? Normally the auto checklist is about 60% of the size of Pro Debut, so hopefully they trim some of the lower end prospects, but that might be too optimistic! I have 1 case coming, would do more, but the base cards & insert do get rather repetitive & you don't generally get a ton of parallels like you do in Topps Pro Debut. With this being a hobby only product, it is rather easy to calculate the total production. In 2020 Topps made 2,554 cases, in 2021 it was 3,606 & I did some calculations & estimates myself & think they will make just under 4,000 cases this year. Hopefully in the coming years, production starts to come down to pre-pandemic levels. |
I love this set. $60 Canadian a box for 2 autos and a parallel, sometimes two. You can hit some of the big names people are clamouring for in sets like Bowman for 1/5th the cost. I've got two boxes pre-ordered and will definitely get more.
|
I pre-ordered a case. First time going for a full case of anything. I always end up being about a case worth of loose boxes from the LCS of this stuff, so figured I might as well get a case right off the bat. Can't wait!
|
2017 Heritage Minors for like $550 a case before the distributors went corrupt remains the best break I've ever experienced.
|
hands down my favorite release each year! 3 cases incoming

2017 MiLB products were the best. I broke 2 cases of Pro Debut and hit nothing but big name autos and parallels for like $60/box. Acuna, Devers, Alonso, Vladdy, Gleyber, Eloy... the list went on. Those were the days. |

Amen, brother. |

By the case is the way to go with this product, because you can then make a master set with the SPs and all the inserts to go with 1 of the many base sets you will make. That could get you around 1/3 of the case back alone. |
1 week away from release day. No checklist listed, but that should not be a shock, since Topps has been very hit and miss when they release them.
|
Checklist has been added:

no Jackson Chourio autos - boo
|
Looks like a much better auto checklist than last year! Excited to open up a few boxes of this product.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk[/QUOTE] I agree, and the Real One Auto player count is actually down 1 from last year (65 to 64), so maybe they didn't up the print run this time. They did add more insert autos compared to last year, so hopefully they combined to fall close to 1 per case. The checklist for the SP & Variation cards also look really good. |
I wonder if they will have flip stock parallels this year?
Cardboard Connection does not have them listed, but these parallels have become a staple of this product. |
Auto checklist looks significantly better than last year. Will likely grab another case
|
Damn right. I once had a lot of it too, but sold it all at shows. It's hard trying to balance the contrasting desires of collecting for keeps vs. making some of your money back as a seller.
|
Cards will sell well during spring training. Lots of releases dropping over the next month, and people are Black Friday shopping too. Wait a week or two and it will be much cheaper. Should be good value once the price settles.
|
The Braves have zero cards in the entire set. I mean, technically, Drew Waters has a base card that will say Gwinnett Stripers on it, but he's not in the organization anymore.
|
Yep, and he was traded off many months back. Funny thing about Drew, when I first saw him at Gwinnett in 2019, he was on a real high, the toast of the fans, basking in the new celebrity limelight as a hot prospect. He signed many autos for everyone. But when I saw him early this past season, he was much changed, sullen, subdued, and would not sign autos. I hope he fares well w/ KC, but I think his star has fallen somewhat.

Not having a minor league season in 2020 really hurt him. Hit .271 in AAA at 20 years old. Came back and struggled and still strikes out a ton. Then Harris passed him. Atlanta had to move on |
Yep, that's a great assessment. Same deal w/ Pache. They gave him a fair chance. Those are the fortunes of war, I suppose. I wish I'd seen Michael Harris play, but he jumped right over AAA. I DID get to see a lot of Marcello Mayer in High A Greenville. Nick Yorke too. Those guys have big futures, and they were very friendly with the fans, signed gobs of autos and chatted all the time. Gotta love the minor league experience!!

As some have shared, that was a great release at the price point back then. Think I bought quite of bit of singles from various BO members here on eBay that fall/spring '18. |
This is the only set I buy by the case every year. After the past two years of disappointment, I hesitatated, but after seeing the checklist I am really glad that I pulled the trigger.
I love it when, every 12 months or so, I pull out the boxes from years past and discover another guy who has broken through. For me, it is the purest pleasure of baseball cards. |

No, I only found my spreadsheets for 2020 & 2021 releases. |
