Isn't this kind of ridiculous? Is he putting up Mahomes numbers? Did the Ravens go to the SB? Wtf, man ...

pride/ego...i think kyler's contract was fully guaranteed? Lamar wants nothing less.

EPH289 09-11-2022 04:20 PM

He isn't worth that offer and is clearly a greedy idiot for not taking it.

regularp 09-11-2022 04:58 PM

$100 million less guaranteed money than Deshaun Watson.

Boo 09-11-2022 05:00 PM

He wants a fully guaranteed contract like Watson. I’m glad the teams are saying no way, that was a dumb contract.

Yeh. You can't always compare contracts especially in this case. One team knows what they are doing and the other is the Browns.

Got a feeling he's looking at Watson's fully guaranteed 230mm deal rather than Maholmes.

Watson's deal was so off the walls its going to mess up negotiations for decades. Thats the deal to beat, and everyone else will NEVER beat it.

WTF was Cleveland thinking.

Ruffy 09-11-2022 05:08 PM

Maybe he'll pull a "Leveon Bell" and sit out next year. Then sign for a fraction of what he could have gotten. Hey, it's an option.

QB franchise tag is gonna be around $50 million. He's not sitting out.

So because the Browns are morons, every team in the NFL has to follow suit?

You don't understand what he said?

Basically, Lamar is not worth the money he thinks he is worth, so he should have taken the guaranteed offer that they put in front of him. But because every teacher in his life passed him in class due to his athletic ability, he fails to understand this and thinks someone else's fortune should be his too. Lamar isn't worth $230 Million Guaranteed and the Ravens are doing right by every other team in the NFL by saying so.

Lamar will get almost everything, if not everything, he wants in free agency. He’ll get Watson’s deal at the very least.

Yup.

Not because he’s worth it, but because there are less than 32 franchise QBs in the entire league.

When one hits the market, like Deshaun, teams do stupid things.

Love this.

He isn't a top tier QB. Offer was actually probably too much. Ravens are lucky he turned it down. Highly unlikely he will be better than he is today and most likely will not be as good.

HeyRelaxGuy 09-13-2022 08:35 PM

I just can't see him topping Flacco, man. I just can't. He had about five or so years where he just went absolutely nuts in the playoffs and won so many important games. Oh, and yes, he won the SB as well and was named the MVP! Beat both Manning and Brady that year.

heatdawg 09-13-2022 08:48 PM

I think its great what he is doing, I also believe it will pay off. Bring the power back to the players, just not as far as the NBA where they run the league and ruin it.

packman80 09-13-2022 09:00 PM

At this point Jackson might as well sit and see if Burrow and/or Herbert sign new contracts after the season. They will reset the market if they do and then he can go off those contracts.

Love reading the same comments in every Lamar Jackson thread. Dude continues to put up numbers and win games and you have people talking about how he’s stupid.

Cousins. Dak. Kyler…all got paid. No one with a brain is taking any of these guys over Lamar. He will get a big deal and it will likely be with the Ravens.

There’s a reason the Ravens are perennial contenders and it starts with Lamar Jackson.

Playoff contenders, not Super Bowl contenders.

Grid 09-14-2022 02:37 PM

Jackson is good! The Ravens offer shows both respect, and concern. The money is there, it just looks like he wants it all guaranteed. Which is hard to give a mobile QB, when running is such a big part of their game.

They tend to get inured by their nature. And if they still get 100% of their contract. VS being opted out or settled with, that can really hurt the team.

The biggest issue they are having, is the fact he is negotiating himself. Much like the Bears had to do with Roquan Smith.

The teams cant state the obvious, like they would to an agent, when they are talking directly to the player himself. Too much risk of hurt feelings.

notfast 09-14-2022 03:05 PM

Since 2018, he’s missed 6 games. 4 last year due to injury. 1 previous year because Covid and 1 in 2019 because playoffs were clinched.

The “running QBs get injured more” thing is a tired take.

If you think a typical drop back QB is at the same risk of injuries as a running one, you are just being silly. Concussions, sprains you name it all go up the more they run.

Go look at how many games Vick, RGIII, Cam Newton ETC missed during their careers.

Its not just missing games, but a general degradation as running QBs age and start to wear out. Much like running backs. Jacksons stats across the board have been in decline since his 2019 breakout season.

Just for injuries...

Oct 7, 2020 NFL Knee Patella Sprain Jackson missed Ravens' practice ahead of the Week 5 game vs. the Bengals due to a knee injury. He was cleared to play that game

Jan 16, 2021 NFL Head Cranial Concussion Grade 1 Jackson suffered a concussion on the last play of the third quarter during the divisional-round playoff game at Buffalo.

Sep 29, 2021 NFL Back Lower Lumbar Sprain/Pull Unspecified Grade 1 Jackson managed to play in Week 4 against the Broncos, despite not practicing with a back injury.

Dec 12, 2021 NFL Pedal Ankle Sprain Grade 2 Jackson suffered an ankle sprain in Week 14's loss to the Browns. He missed the rest of the season
