Bill Russell
Just read that Bill Russell passed away today at the age of 88. I don’t recall him having a thread on here. RIP.
|
Gut punch :(
|
RIP Mr. Russell.
|
Wow didn’t hear that. Rest In Peace 88 is a long life.

The word 'icon' is often over-used, but there is no doubt it applied to Bill Russell.

RIP Mr. Russell.
I remember my favorite card of his was when I completed the 2009-10 exquisite flashback set I had #6/19. |
GWOAT and it's not close. RIP Mr. Russell, thank you for all you did
|
My local morning anchor just announced it and mentioned the “iconic photo of him after his 100 point game”.
Lonnngggg sigh. RIP |
Double post.
|
Never saw him play but I understand his impact/legacy.
RIP Mr. Russell |
Double dribble
|
RIP to a great champion. He didn't build the foundation for the Celtics. He WAS the foundation.
|
A great player and person, 11 championships in 13 years in Boston. That's more rings than Jordan & Lebron combined.
|
Double post…sorry
|
RIP to a legend 🙏🏾
Just ran across a clip of him and Duncan where he gave a Jackie Robinson story and it was just too much 😔 |
Rest In Peace
I haven't followed the Knicks or watched basketball in over a decade, but I certainly remember the great Bill Russell.
The greatest ever. Rest In Peace.. PS He was actually in an episode of Miami Vice. |
And right on queue, eBay listings priced to the moon
R.I.P. to one of the GOATs |
When I used to work the all star game every year I only ever interacted with him once, he was in a hotel foyer carrying a large somewhat unwieldy box somewhere with no one around. I offered to give him a hand and he politely thanked me and declined and went on his way. Seemed like a very normal down to earth person

The greatest winner in NBA history and an incredible human being to boot - sad that he's gone but happy that he lived a long life that seemingly improved with each year. RIP.

R.I.P. to one of the GOATs
I'd say he's a hard long-term hold, top-3 player (mt. rushmore at the very least) has gotta be, right? His very few cards from his playing days have a lot of eye appeal, hard to find well-centered though! R.I.P. #6 |

On one of the NBATV features on him (or his 'rivalry' with Wilt) they have him laughing quite a lot in interview, very infectious. |
A tale of two Russell's, Bill Russell's career earnings was $10 million, Russell Westbrook will make that much in just 17 1/2 games next season.

R.I.P. #6
This is one of my favorite cards, period. I was born in 1977 so never saw him play, but will forever respect a team-first guy, which by all accounts, he was the consummate teammate. 2012-13 Panini Signatures Russell, Bill AU | NFT | Serial Number: 07/15 |
