Okay, I think think we’re at the point where he deserve his own thread now. There’s much less deserving players who have their own on here, so it’s time. He recently reached the big career milestone with his 500th strikeout. He’s now only 5,214 behind Nolan Ryan! Watch out!

But seriously… we can use this thread to discuss all things Sandy, and post cool cards of his, if anyone feels like sharing. I think he has a real chance at a top 3 NLCY finish this year.

I've been following his career since I pulled his Bowman Chrome Auto Red at MVP Sports Cards in Orange County, CA. It's great seeing him get better every season.

Mods, please delete this thread. I haven't finished buying Alcantara cards and don't need the competition. ;)

Heh… LVDan and I have been adding to our stash since back when his base TC RC autos were $5. I wish I would have bought more though. I passed on a Sapphire RC auto #/5 for $120. Doh!

I think I have about 60 autos "rookies" of his. Never got a sapphire or a 2017 Bowman 1st though. My best is his Topps Chrome Gold Wave auto /50. Wish I picked up more top end of his cards. I did buy three of his purple /250 Topps Chrome autos for under $10 each. :flex:

Why did I use HGA? Probably because I was bored and enjoyed a bottle of Scotch that day. going to send a regular refractor /499 to CSG. Need other variations as well to send to BGS, GMA, TAG, SVCG, etc... It will be a complete mess, but will be funny to see.

I would take these over my Bowman 1st and TC RC autos

Nothing too earth shattering here, but it’s my fun little Sandy collection. My claim to fame is that I got these all super cheap before he took off.

How would people rank his rookies? Since Sandy signed about 10,000 plus rookie cards it seems like, if you don't have an auto version it is ranked way behind. I rank them as

1. 2018 Topps Chrome Sapphire Auto
2. 2018 Topps Chrome Auto
3. 2017 Bowman Chrome Prospects 1st Auto

I know the Bowman Chrome sells over the Topps Chrome, but I prefer Sandy in the Marlins Jersey and I have more attachment over a RC logo over the Bowman 1st. If I had to list a number 4 it would be the 2018 Topps Heritage, I think.

I have the same top 2 as you, but just due to personal preference, I would take his Heritage auto over his 1st Bowman just because of the jersey. But as far as value, your list seems accurate.

I bought his cards as soon as I started collecting. I was so confused about all the sets and what was the best rookie card. :doh: I Stopped collecting right about 1992-1993. Things were pretty simple back then, it was right before the madness happened and the 50 different sets.

I just looked back at my COMC and I bought 12 2018 Bowman Chrome/Chrome Refractor for between $3 and $5 and two Bowman Chrome Green /99 for $15 each. Definitely great buys, but I could have had a much better card!

I really like the base(non auto) Sapphire with it's small PR, ihad a couple dozen of these from the $3-$5 upick listings till those bones got picked clean- Flash that red Khal. I also have always liked the Heritage autos too(one red left).
Late blooming mid 20s pitchers like this are the most fun for flipping as it's pretty easy to buy cheap at auctions after a couple of meh starts and sell for 3x ON BIN after a couple gems. Rinse and repeat until irrelevant or consistent ace. Feels like my time playing with Sandys may be reaching an end.

Is it just me, or if you kinda see those last 3 of the horizontals, the color and design makes it look like he is wearing a humongous glove, at least from the peripherals haha
