do you think grading company control their quantity of gem mint
I submit 3 order about 200 cardsto BGS for grading recently by myself. the percentage of gem mint each order are all about 40~50%. Did anyone got gem mint much higher or lower to this number? do you think they control their gem mint in about 40~50% in one order?
|
My last order recently of 110 cards was 70 percent gem or better with 4 pristine so while I think pop control is always a thing on big cards overall there were likely issues with your cards.

Some companies might control the amount of gems they give out (I personally don't think so, except for PSA on high dollar cards), but from what I've seen it isn't BGS.

I've had gem rates range from 20% to 95% (and expected low on the low ones and high on the high ones). It's about the order and the grader.

So youre telling me each order only has one grader and that same grader grades all the cards in that order? I dont believe that. Im sure each grader gets notes indicating the value of each card and also the % of 10s. |

I absolutely think most orders are graded in order by the same solo grader because otherwise it would be murder trying to keep them all straight. The only exception I can think of would be different kinds of high-end cards submitted in the same order. QA1 "checks the accuracy of our grades" with a second set of eyes, but because this occurs after assembly I suspect an issue would have to be extremely obvious for the QA grader to overturn the initial grade. |
Graders have look at cards for 15-20 seconds, maybe 30 seconds tops. I dont think theyre worried about how many 10s a particular card has.
Also, Im sure its been mentioned before that theres at least 2 and sometimes 3 different graders that look at each card. Thats before QA. |
