New DC Trading Card / NFT Hybrid set coming in April
 

Had not heard anything about these until today but it looks like they will be released in 3 weeks. First Licensed cards from The Batman will be part of the set. Sold out online but I’m sure BO will have them up soon…

I saw that too and ended up passing. I’m not sure I’d enjoy the set, but my passing likely means it will take off! Lol.

10 more cards for me to chase... hopefully some people will part with their physical copies

Does this mean Crypto no longer has DC? Or is the “hybrid” product considered a totally different product line? If the latter, I wonder if a similar Marvel set is planned.

This is what I’m wondering. I haven’t heard any news on a change in exclusive license for DC. I think it’s a neat concept for today’s market and lack of hits should keep it affordable. I think I said the same thing prior to Fortnight series 1 releasing. I was off a bit on that one….

It's an interesting enough concept, combining the physical and NFT element.

The even more obvious interesting aspect is the manufacturer...US Playing Card Co.

150 year old company, only recently purchased by Cartimundi. Cartimundi of course printed/prints the bulk of the hobby.

Curious to see where and how this brand moves forward.

The EFT side of this set seems like an awful lot of work to me.

EDIT: Also the cards look ugly and cheap with rounded edges like playing cards.

If I understood correctly, each purchase contains an NFT and a physical copy, but they are not tied together, meaning, you can sell one and keep the other, right? I prefer if they use the NFT as a proof of ownership of the physical card, like trading a physical card would result in the transfer of the title of ownership to the physical card.

Looking at the print runs, obviously nothing is too rare (rarest being 1000 copies), but interestingly enough, the 15th rarest card is the 8-pack exclusive.

some of the artwork is over 15 years old

Scanning a card is 'an awful amount of work'? Damn. You live a rough life.

Either way all the configurations are sold out save for the 4 Pack.

Picked up a few 8 and boosters for the novelty on Friday. Worth a shot.

I meant the part about trying to get to the top of the leaderboards to get special rewards by buying as many cards as possible or chasing down high tier cards to get more points or worrying about having lower "mint" numbers on cards to get higher scores or bidding on the monthly auctions to get one of the 10 copies or keeping track of the monthly digital drops or any of the other aspects of the Hro "experience."

Sounds epack-esque. Saw that these are up on Walmart's website in "blaster" and "mega" form. Came here to see if anyone has gotten any inhand. I know one of my favorite artists (Jim Lee) is a DC exec so was curious if his art was a part of the set...

Hobby was delayed until 4/13 but maybe some of the smaller formats will leak out early.

A few sellers appear to have these in hand.

These should dry up quickly I'd imagine, with the bulk ending up unopened on shelves.

These hit Walmart shelves this week...

Meh. Ethereum blockchain. Pay $100 in gas fees to trade a 10 cent card.

It seems like there has been a lot of traction with these, so if you can find some at Walmart - it's an absolutely no brainer.

They are on Immutable and have an in app marketplace so the only fee you'll pay is a selling fee.

The 4-pack boxes appear to be selling easily for 3x the purchase price, whereas the 8-pack boxes seem to have the biggest premium at roughly 5x the purchase price.

Not sure how to check what has been sold on the NFT market to see where those prices are, but clearly this has legs at this point.

I can't believe it. I wonder how many collectors are actually involved. Are flippers/investors buying and selling boxes? NFT enthusiasts?

I am interested in these but I cant seem to find boxes at any Walmarts. I guess that flippers are the ones who get to collect now a days at retail. Does anyone know what days Walmart even restocks usually?

I missed the boat with the preorder opportunity but did by 4 of the 4-pack boxes when I first learned about this card/NFT set a little while ago. Paid $200 shipped for them, basically 2x MSRP but before fees. Seems like it was worth the gamble as those boxes are selling for $80-$100 per.
