Two of my Big PC cards were stolen from my PO BOX. Open Eyes much appreciated
Tua is a #1/1 (hopefully easy to find)
and Jalen Hurts Flawless Ruby is #12/15 They were stolen day after Thanksgiving. Two seperate packages missing. Postmaster at my local PO won't give me any time of his day to check cameras. Says "with stimulus checks going around their have been a few break ins into PO Boxes" He just gave me a slip of paper with a phone number I cant get through to :( Any help will be very much appreciated I live in the city of Garden Grove. Which is in the Orange County, California area. This is all he gave me to work with. |
Where did you buy the cards from? Would the packaging and addresses have anything on them that gave away it was a sports card? If so And the package said out for delivery and delivered, I’d start with the mail man.
|
Get an email report going via the website. They'll act like you're inconveniencing them until there's a paper trail and responsibility put on them. I got my entire neighborhood's post office branch changed, a few years back, due to the behaviors of the carrier(s) lying about packages being delivered, just leaving notes, etc. I mean, he admitted that they have theft occurring due to "stimulus checks". Really? That's interesting. According to that piece of paper, it's a federal offense. If the boxes are monitored, should be reaaaallly easy to figure out, you'd think. Sorry it happened, but I have NO patience in dealing with a thief.

This is good advice. Hope you get some resolution.

These are PO Boxes right? Right at the post office? Nothing was “delivered” to your house?
|
Thanks for the comments guys
Yes these are at the boxes inside the post office with their own “locker” combinations I still don’t understand how someone would be able to break into it. I had my mail stolen from my house before which is the reason why i got the PO Box in the first place. |
My immediate thought is they're being "broken into" by USPS employees. 100% file a report through the website. I had a package misdelivered one street over earlier this year, neighbor had video of carrier scanning it on her porch then walking away with it. Nobody cared until I filed something online. Say you suspect theft.
|
Yeah, I would agree that there’s virtually a 0% chance that a USPS employee or someone with routine access to the boxes didn’t take them. His nonchalant reply raises some alarms.

USPS employee theft
Tis the season to be jolly and for thieving underpaid postal employees to steal your $hit. |
USPS employee theft

First if you didn't receive them then you should be able to file an insurance claim.
Second file with your local PD and then call senders PD to get them to coordinate. Third USPS has online claim to file. Mine took almost 2 months to acknowledge I filed it. I was the victim of mail fraud and that's why I'm listing the steps I took. I didn't get back my cards yet but I'm still trying. FYI. I would go to the police and ask them to visit the Post Office to save the surveillance video. It’s extremely suspect that they aren’t being more helpful. It’s absolutely infuriating to be honest.
Good luck. |
If there was no damage to the box or lock it's clear it's a employee who stole it. Either way I would file a police report on the theft.

https://www.prc.gov/consumer-assistance Call that number they gave you, thats the office of the post master general. Email them here, and start a paper trail. hotline@uspsoig.gov File a complaint for theft. Dont do it on the USPS website, it would just be clutter. And more likely than not, it would just be routed back to the thieving post office to investigate. Use the hotline to report employee theft https://www.uspsoig.gov/hotline That will open up a claim with the The Office of the General Counsel. They will appoint a staff member called the Public Representative (PR). The PR represents the interests of the general public as a whole. It will be a private investigation on your behalf. Seriously, if you just report it as lost through the general website, it is next to worthless. They will send a note to that post office, having them look for what they stole. Its like having a criminal act as their own judge. And the reason why this happens so much. |

I would like to recommend that when creating a post like this that you include specific card info in the title. That way if someone does a google search for that card there is a stronger possibility that your thread will appear. Also include pics of front and back.
For example: 2020 Jalen Hurts FRS-JHU Panini Flawless Ruby Auto 12/15 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
What stimulus checks?
Some people in California got a 600 buck stimulus from the state. |
Thanks for the comments guys

I had my mail stolen from my house before which is the reason why i got the PO Box in the first place.
You might be better off with a box at a UPS store that's closed during off-hours if you're worried about break ins. Main advantage of a private mailbox service is they can scan each piece of mail as they arrive and immediately notify you.
If there was no damage to the box or lock it's clear it's a employee who stole it.
