From the images it looks like the set will be in the X-Men Metal format and the PMGs will likely not be as nice as the ones from the FUSM set.

Wish UD would take this opportunity to tweak the base card design. I really didn't like that about the X-men set. But no surprise, it's all about cutting corners and doing the minimum.

The base set from X-men Metal was extremely underwhelming. There were maybe 10 cards out of 200 that were good.

Agreed with the previous three posts. UD might be benefited from revisiting the 1995 Marvel Metal set and understanding what exactly made that set so impressive and memorable (it has a lot to do with the quality of card- design, foiling, and also the original art....plus the simplicity of concept- one awesome flasher parallel set, not golds,grandiose, pink, pmgs,purples, etc).

I agree the PMGs in 2021 Metal left a lot to be desired, particularly the red pmgs which look almost pink. And way too many to have every base have a PMG parallel, compared to the PMG scheme in Marvel Retro/Spiderman/X-men sets before.

It does look like the Spiderman metal set will be similar to the X-men one, and probably repeat a lot of the same mistakes. From what it looks like, a lot of the interest in the X-men set has already been toned down a lot, there's not much talk about it.

I know it's way early still, but will UD be releasing a Marvel Masterpieces set in 2022, since that is an even year?

Yep, some of the art was a real head scratcher. They even recycled art from previous cards. I wouldn't be surprised if they released Avengers Metal next with the same theme.

A Blowout competitor has Marvel Metal Universe Spider-Man available for presale at $239.95 per box. If I recall correctly, that almost $100 more than Marvel Metal Universe X-Men boxes were originally listed at. Yikes.

UD doubled the wholesale price, so it's not all on the retailer this time.

Without the etched foil and background artwork for the base cards, they aren't really Metal Universe cards. Those are the main qualities that made them unique and distinct from other card sets in the 90s.

I doubt production costs would be that much higher on these.

More sets with art swiped from random comic books instead of artwork commissioned specifically for cards.

More Marvel movie sets to use up existing sticker autos.

Wow UD is bringing back the Marvel Beginnings line? That's awesome...always liked that set. That one should do very well imo.
