Best all time players by Jersey Number
Just something I put together out of boredom. Feel free to debate. Must have worn the number for the majority of their career unless there is a lack of options at the number.
00 Mr Met 0 Al Oliver 1 Ozzie Smith 2 Charlie Gehringer 3 Babe Ruth 4 Lou Gehrig 5 Albert Pujols 6 Stan Musial 7 Mickey Mantle 8 Joe Morgan 9 Ted Williams 10 Lefty Grove 11 Barry Larkin 12 Roberto Alomar 13 Alex Rodriguez 14 Pete Rose 15 Carlos Beltran 16 Ted Lyons 17 Todd Helton 18 Johnny Damon 19 Robin Yount 20 Mike Schmidt 21 Roger Clemens 22 Clayton Kershaw 23 Ryne Sandberg 24 Willie Mays 25 Barry Bonds 26 Wade Boggs 27 Mike Trout 28 Bert Blyleven 29 Adrian Beltre 30 Tim Raines 31 Greg Maddux 32 Steve Carlton 33 Larry Walker 34 Nolan Ryan 35 Phil Niekro 36 Gaylord Perry 37 Dave Stieb 38 Curt Schilling 39 Dave Parker 40 Bartolo Colon 41 Tom Seaver 42 Jackie Robinson 43 Dennis Eckersley 44 Hank Aaron 45 Bob Gibson 46 Andy Pettitte 47 Tom Glavine 48 Rick Reuschel 49 Ron Guidry 50 Mookie Betts 51 Randy Johnson 52 C.C. Good list...
First thought, I'm a huge Ryne Sandberg fan... hard to believe he's the top #23 in baseball... but I also can't think of a better #23 Second thought... Roger Clemens at #21, not Roberto Clemente??? Hard to argue, but tough call! I honestly couldn't have told you the Rocket was #21, but I immediately thought of Roberto! |
And 32... I'm taking Koufax over Carlton!
|
#27 should be Big papi not Minnow 3 world series vs 0!
|
Derek Jeter #2
|
I would say Joe D over Albert for #5
|
I put Ichiro over Randy Johnson for 51, but I may be biased.
And I wish I could say Hideki Matsui for #55! Though that's far from happening. |
Griffey jr > Tim Raines
Bench > Pujols |
Everyone knows Ron Gant is the GOAT #5
|
Griffey jr > Tim Raines
Bench > Pujols
100% agree on Griffey jr. 0% agree in Bench Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Griffey was not good when he wore 30 and he only wore it from 2000-2005
30 should be Nolan Ryan. He was better wearing 30 than he was wearing 34. Put Ortiz in for 34. And I'd also put Rickey Henderson for #35 ahead of Niekro. |
A lot of disrespect in here of a guy that's putting together one of the best statistical resumes ever and had possibly the best decade in baseball history.
|
Bryson Arroyo
He he |
Fun list. Big Hurt over Niekro
|
I’d take Whitey Ford at #16
|
Derek Jeter #2
I second the motion. :)! |
Yaz over Joe Morgan at #8
And I'll take Pedro over Gibson at #45 Manny @ #99 |
Just found this:
Yaz over Joe Morgan at #8
I m taking Ripken over Either. Very similair lifetime stats, But I am an Os fan, and I would take either Cal or Yaz over morgan. |

Well, if we are giving biased opinions, I'll take Andre Dawson at #8. :) |

Man the amount of people disagreeing with Pujols is amazing to me |

I can see Joe D, but Bench??? I think because of how bad pujols has been people either never saw, or forget how absolutely dominant he was. |
McGwire over Bonds!
