Anybody else love LENTICULAR cards?
1996-96 Flair Hot Numbers and Play Makers are two of my favorite sets of all time, pictures can't really do them justice and can't really capture the 3D effect.
Anybody else love lenticular and are there any other similar basketball sets other than the 1996 Fleer USA set that had lenticular cards? I know baseball had UD3 and some Sportflix inserts used similar technology but wasn't sure if there were some other basketball ones I have missed. Thanks. |
Not specific to just basketball, but Upper Deck does these every year in Goodwin Champions. The bounty ones tied to the auto can be pricy, but the non-bounty 3D lenticular shouldn’t be that bad in price. Can pickup the MJ, LeBron, etc going back for years. Luka, Simmons I would think had ones too in their rookie year at minimum

They're my favorite! 1996-97 Fleer Thrill Seekers is one of my favorites if not my top favorite.
Jambalayas are there but are crazy expensive. One that's is super cool is 1997 Edge Energy. It has the ball hitting the backboard and it shatters. This is a collegiate set though and can be had very cheap. |
I recently purchased about 10 of the 1998 Topps Golden Greats. A very cool set with some retro players!

2 of my favorite sets as well. I've completed both.

Remember grabbing that Lebron city heights in PSA 10 back in 2005? Cost was something like $15-$20. Wonder what it's worth today.

Hot Numbers
Thrill Seekers |
I don't have any in basketball, but I have a few from this year's UD Tim Horton's Hockey - the Franchise trios cards, which are very nice-looking cards.

yea 96 thrill seekers is prob my fav 90s insert

I loved them as a kid when McDonalds released the hockey ones, they blew my mind. I couldn't comprehend how they could make cards move like that lol. Not a whole lot of new lent cards though, would be cool if they had moments like the mcdonalds ones for basketball, I know UD had some in the late 90s but new ones would be awesome.

Also of note:
1996-97 Molten Metal Series 1 1995-96 Hill and Stackhouse Meltdown NNO The 1999-00 Apex Warp-Tek parallels use a lenticular pattern The 1996 USA set is just amazing. Three different lenticular designs. Amazing checklist. |

Premier replays from the 90s
they were 5 x 7 they had the best motion they partnered up with upper deck on “the shot “ from game six Bulls Jordan 3-D lenticular looks much better on a larger print |
