2020 Topps Chrome Sapphire - Checklist Up

I'm sure there is a thread already somewhere for the product, but couldn't find one, so here it is.
Still no official release date, but the release of checklist should be an indication that the product is coming out very soon.

I mean, the checklist is just 700 cards from S1 + S2, with certain rookie autos, so not much surprise I guess.

This is the time of year that Topps doesn't want some of my money but they want all of my money. Snapshots, Ginter X, Sapphire, etc. Still waiting for the Ginter X pre-sale.

2020 Topps Chrome Sapphire - Checklist Up

I had been wondering if they might sneak in Madrigal or maybe Mountcastle, but it doesn’t appear they did.

No Zac Gallen auto is a little surprising, though obviously not a deal killer. But no Kyle Lewis auto??

Well if it releases let's say October 1st, can we expect shipping before Christmas?

But how will things go now that Luis RObert isn't as big a driving force for stupid prices? Oh it's Sapphire, that's right and the rich (or deep in debt) can keep getting richer (or more in debt) and drive it to impossible to get at reasonable prices.

brothertona 09-23-2020 12:14 PM

The auto list is relatively small which I'm totally a fan of.

Noticed the same, wonder if they will still be 1 per box or not..

Have to assume this is the box price that we will see the biggest jump on year to year, yeah?

Capitalism is a beautiful thing. Maybe Topps should equally distribute 1 sapphire card to every American for $7. That is only fair. It isn't fair that some can't afford $400 boxes while some can. While we are on the subject, I think all collectors should be given a free and equal amount of toploaders too. Its only fair.

brothertona 09-23-2020 12:19 PM

Right, my life isn't less valuable if I don't have a Chrome Sapphire of Luis Robert. If I hit one yay but there are products I won't get, there are cards I can't afford. This is a fact of life. You can complain about it, get a better job or accept it. Once you accept you can't have every card you want your life as a collector is so much better.

Jaypers 09-23-2020 12:21 PM

No Kyle Lewis or Jake Cronenworth autos.

sickmantz 09-23-2020 12:25 PM

What are they playing at with those "rookie" designations? Re: Eloy, Vlad, Tatis...

Cronenworth is a call up and will have RCs next year. He does not even have a Topps Now Call Up card which is weird for the leading candidate for the NL ROY.

SupermanBrandon 09-23-2020 12:30 PM

The crying started well before I thought it would.

crpav 09-23-2020 12:39 PM

Fine I regress. I said some whiny stupid things.

EricFozz 09-23-2020 12:56 PM

Last year, they snuck in some fellas that ended up in the Update series - Hiura, Chavis & Kieboom ring a bell, probably more. I don't notice any additions here which makes me think even less of 2020 Update (if I hadn't already). And more of 2021 Series 1!

When do we get to start complaining about bots and Topps' shipping times? We have a pretty good idea how these releases go now:

1. People ask when product will drop on Topps, despite no one ever knowing this ahead of time.
2. Assumptions are thrown around on pricing, purchase limits, insert ratios and print runs, despite no one ever knowing this ahead of time.
3. EBay sellers start pre-selling boxes.
4. MC members get their allocation, members flock to this forum to say how easy their checkout process was.
5. Two BO members develop a conspiracy theory on MC memberships.
6. 12 pages of people who are not MC members bash the process and product.
7. Raffle opens for public, 12 pages of people asking when the raffle winners are announced and giving hourly updates on how they have NOT received notification that they won.
8. Random new member signs up and spams his 34 boxes for sale.
9. Raffle winners are announced, another 5 pages of complaining about not getting picked and how raffles are the devil.
10. Guy asks when these can be found at Target, TBP responds "none today".
11. More speculation on shipping methods, how Phil gets boxes, backdooring and so forth.
12. 3 weeks of people updating the forum on the status of their orders not shipping.
13. Product arrives, people bash the ROI, checklist and general buying process.
14. Ginter X is announced and we start this all over again.

You forgot...

People who are MC members bash the process and product but buy anyways.

9a. Pro raffle winners forget thanking Topps for allowing folks with smaller bankroll a win at some easy high value products (thank you Topps for not forgetting the little people!), while non-MC/non-raffle winners clamor for Panini style dutch auction instead as they got money to burn.

Sounds about right! You forgot "Topps Customer Service is terrible". As if anyone alive didn't already know this. Ive been on hold for 10hrs straight and then they just hung up on me.

Montgomery Club exclusive this year. That's nice!

Exclusive or just 1st dibs? If the former, well that feels bad. Haven't been able to get any of the online exclusives this year. Not that I don't get it. Awesome for you guys who were able to get in on MC before I imagine many of us were even in/back into the hobby.

SupermanBrandon 09-23-2020 02:22 PM

The Mickey Mouse Club can have all the boxes. Anyone that rips any base, color, autos of BO BICHETTE...Im buying. Don't be a stranger...DM me.

It took Kyle Lewis robbing a HR to get a Topps Now card even though he's been ROY favorite all season

Pacmeyer 09-23-2020 02:26 PM

Topps can't handle raffles anyways so why bother.

Major coup for club members but orders will still get canceled for no apparent reason because it's Topps.
