As a young boy, I wanted to pull a signed Paul Shuey..
As a die hard Indians fan, when I was a little boy I opened a few packs of Classic Best hoping to pull a signed Paul Shuey. A very rare pull indeed. I pulled this instead. Such a thrill to get a signed card from a pack in that age, but alas not the Indians star reliever. I had heard of the player I pulled, a little. He was supposed to be a good rookie.. so I asked the shop owner to put it the card in a nice protective case straightaway. The only card I still have from my youth, it came back today from Beckett Grading. Just goes to show- you can't always get what you want. Sometimes you have to live with your sloppy seconds. Incredible that it stayed in good enough condition to pull a 9.5 after all those years! Congrats!

You twisted my arm. I will trade you that card for the Shuey you were looking for!!! :)

He’s no Paul Shuey, obviously, but not a bad runner up prize.
Respect! |
I love how old school that Jeter Auto is. Easily has to be one of his first autos, as his signature is quite complex now in comparison to the above example.
Also to think there are 1200 of these signed out there! And Jeter was probably paid $1 per card max to sign these. Now he probably gets at least 80-100 a card. |

PSA has graded 85, while Beckett has graded 88 of them, from 6.5 to 9.5, no 10s, though PSA has given out twenty six 10s. I'm guessing there rest of the graders combined may push this number to 200 combined. Which, if we say double that are not graded but in collector hands, leaves 600 of the 1200 to still be found, or are lost forever. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk |
Shuey and Assenmacher - Great relievers. Even better names.
