Alec Bohm
 

I know everyone here appreciates a good player specific thread, so I thought I would get one started for Bohm since he’s having a solid (if unspectacular) start to his career. I’ve been a fan of his for a while since he was always cool toward me and other fans at Clearwater Threshers/Phillies ST games. Here’s my modest collection. He’s definitely the player I super collect who may never pan out, but I’m enjoying the ride.

Eh... not really. I’m not much of a seller. It’s crossed my mind, but I started buying his stuff back in 2018, so I got it all pretty cheap, so I don’t feel like I HAVE to recoup anything. I feel like he could have a pretty good career too. I would sell my Kyle Lewis stuff first since I didn’t have an in-person experiences with him, and I’m less confident in his long term career.

That’s a great question. His defense at 3B isn’t elite and he’ll probably move to 1B eventually, so you can’t say Arenado. I think if we’re looking for best-case-scenario comps, Dale Murphy is a good one, I would also look at Don Mattingly. Bohm is a guy who has the potential to hit .285 with 30 HRs a season for the peak run of his career. Again, that’s best case since most prospects go bust. I’m rooting for him though!

This kid has certainly signed a lot of cards already.
Saw him in person hit a monster blast at AA a while back. He'll be ok.

Yeah, I had originally started out with the notion of collecting all his certified auto Bowman cards from 2018/2019, but dang, there were sooooo many different ones, I fell short by a few. I guess he doesn’t mind signing. He’s super cool about signing at games. He hasn’t set the world on fire yet, but the 2 errors aside, he’s looked like major leaguer.

I picked moniak as my phillies prospect to follow.
Oh how foolish I feel.
I really hope Bohm succeeds, seems like a nice dude, and phillies need something good.
It feels like we have traded away so many good players recently.

Well, at least you got JT when you sent Sixto to my Marlins. We’ll get a taste of how equal this trade was when Sixto takes the mound today, but so far, you guys did pretty well in that swap.

Great to hear that he's a cool guy. I'm a big Phillies fan so Bohm is one of the prospects I've been watching. It's always much better when the player seems like a normal person.

If we resign him. If he bounces....i mean it's cool we went for it. He really doesn't seem like he loves it in Philly.
I hope Sixto is fire, I just ww him in fantasy.

I love Sixto. I saw him pitch a lot when he played with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.

Bohm looks solid, some very key AB's, super looking swing!

I don’t know if he’ll ever hit 40 HRs in a season, but he could have few seasons of 35 with a .300+ AVG. I think he has the kind of grit and personality to become a fan favorite too.

I think he's probably a consistent 25-30 guy that hovers around the .300 average for his peak. Just so consistent in his plate approach no matter what situation he's in. Really can envision a scenario where he just is on fire for a year and has a chance at a batting title with 100+ RBIs.

Most impressive position player rookie not named Robert or Cronenworth?

(Lewis has fallen off a bit -- that's the statement, I think.)
