Brandon Boldt - Fraudulent & Criminal Behavior
 

Hey all, wanted to create a post to warn others of this individual. I hope that this thread will save others from a proven scammer and thief. For those of you in the Salt Lake City area I hope that you will not welcome any future interactions from this person as he has been given many chances and each time chose to continue to lie. For those of you on Facebook and on Blowout I hope that you do not purchase any items from this individual as it is part of what he claims will be sold to repay the debt that he has here.

The person who was taken advantage of was a gentleman in his 60’s. He contacted me after he had trouble and asked if I had some time to take a look at the situation. What followed was quite literally the most disgusting behavior I have seen in my 25 years in this hobby. Instead of explaining a long (3200 text messages long) story here today I will give you the totality of it and periodically update with some of the claims and promises that were made. Feel free subscribe to the thread. Some will find these grotesque, some will find these entertaining, in the end I hope it provides a picture of an individual that should not be welcome in our hobby/industry. I will leave that for you all to decide whether or not you want to have these types of people in our community.

There are so many things wrong with our hobby as can be seen by the PSA/PWCC/BGS situations of late. I will leave it to everyone here to judge where they put Mr. Boldt amongst the bad apples of our community.

In total $31,000 Paypal, $2,500 Cash, $1,000 Money Order, $700 Plane Ticket, $800 Lodging ($36,000 Total) was paid to Mr. Boldt. Mr. Boldt has already acknowledged that he did not deliver on $12,000 worth of promised cards but has not been cooperative in returning calls and consistently makes excuses that you will see throughout this thread. In total (by my valuation), less than $12,000 of market value was delivered from the $36,000 paid. So yes, conservatively over a $22,000 scam job.

If anyone out there is more familiar with the steps that can be taken a pm would be much appreciated. For the time being, we would like to ask for any help in preventing Mr. Boldt from taking advantage of any others and from selling the cards that are owed here.

[B]Proof of non-delivery - An email from Mr. Boldt himself on 2/12/19 of cards that he had not yet sent. Many of these cards were purchased in Nov/Dec. By the time of this email the purchaser (Mr. Harada) had completely stopped purchasing items from Mr. Boldt. (Much more than this agreed by both parties as missing)

I'm confused. His scam is lying about the value of his cards, and then selling it for a markup? Scummy, but whomever is on the receiving end should have done their research.

A combination of both. Still $12,000 in promised/undelivered cards and another $12,000 in overvalued cards with many fraudulent claims as seen above.

Honestly I feel like you should redact this thread until you can post an actual narrative and not just a vague synopsis of nothing and a couple non specific texts.

i feel like you are going to get a ton of "the buyer should have done his research"...which i mean yea...kind of hard to feel too badly for someone just blindly giving away money without doing any research....

im sure there is more to it...but since all that is posted is 2 cards where this Boldt guy talks up cards that arent actually what they are...and apparently this older gentleman that you know paid a bunch of money for them?

i mean the Brady card and even story isnt even accurate...he wasnt pick #271...i mean literally any type of small research would have shown what these were ...

i dont know...i feel bad to a degree that anyone loses money...but im genuinely not seeing a scam so far

how is it any different than a guy listing that Brady on EBay for $500 and your guy actually buying it....i mean this is complete and total lack of knowledge/research and just sending your money away...how is that a scam?? From what's posted so far, kinda gonna have to agree with the others. I'd certainly consider someone who rips off people that don't know any better a garbage person, but (again, from what's posted so far) it looks like someone just blindly sent someone else a ton of money without any research or knowledge

From what I can understand from the OP, the difference here though is a "spear phishing" style attack. Just posting an eBay auction looking for a person to scam is one thing, but having acquired a target and specifically going after that same person again and again is particularly despicable.

sure its horrible and all of that...but the information needed to verify the cards and their value is EASILY available...its not like there is no info to be found and you are just be lied too or given like fake authenticated memorabilia or something to that effect....

its cards...go to ebay...search them...see they are not nearly worth what this joker is saying....do.not.buy.fom.him.

Apologies for the incompleteness of the opening post. Of the 3200 texts between the two I would say conservatively 75-80% came from Mr. Boldt. Many texts like the above stating that it was a deal and “anything for you” type of texts. Very much predatory in tone.

As mentioned, buyer involved is a little on the older side and was a friend of my late father. A great gentleman who does not use eBay and was led to believe that he was getting great deals.

Honestly too much just doesn’t add up. You say his name is Brandon Boldt. The note next to the Brady says Brandon B, next to the Julius it says Mike Harada and then in the text he calls him Gibbs. Nowhere did you post any record of him even offering to sell it to this guy, yet you are calling him a fraud and making outrageous claims.
I would exercise extreme caution when making the amount of significant negative claims you are at this point, haphazardly, while providing no evidence. Your reputation is at stake as well. Not to mention any legal repercussions should you not be able to back your claims.

More details to come. Dan, I'm sure you'd feel differently if you knew Mr. Harada (extremely friendly, a lot of friends and a genuinely nice person). I agreed to do this work for him for free because of the type of person he is.

Mr. Harada would be the buyer. I've been working on this for the past month and I can tell you there is more than enough paper work to back up all claims. Mr. Boldt has also already acknowledged that $12,000 of promised goods were not delivered and that some he never even possessed. He has promised to repay this debt but has not been responsive since.

This thread is again to hopefully warn others of the nature of a person that they may be dealing with and the harmful effects it can have on people.

I’m new. I’ve lurked for the better part of 6 months. Got back slowly into the hobby last year after a hiatus since the late 90s. A simple pm would suffice over a lame link and accusation.

My post was really a heads up that proof before accusations is the best route to take. You levied some strong accusations right out of the gate and posted nothing to back it up. More detail is desperately needed.
