Deflection: Robles and Albies?
Isn’t the art of magic in deflection? While everyone’s looking at Soto and Acuna, should we be making the Robles and Albies cards disappear instead? Dudes are throwing up the same numbers and actually playing tonight. Hitting and scoring too.
|
Making the Robles and Ablies cards disappear instead? What does that mean? Both of those guys are solid contributors. Neither will be able to hold a candle to their teammates though.

baseball good and baseball card good are not one in the same

Not trying to be cryptic here. I meant just what I said. Making them disappear. Similar to the Heritage Action Acuna cards that were mentioned in his thread. Similar to the Soto red update cards mentioned in his thread. Vanished, gone, caput. Nothing available on enay. |

Absolutely! You should always make drastic decisions when analyzing the month of April. Better yet, see who does better on Thursday and then make your decision. |
Is your name Walt Altmen?
|
Good players but it's Juanny vs. Ronald for the next 12 years.

I understand this fully. But even and eventually Jerome Walton faded back under Mark Grace’s grace, right? |
I don't know about everyone else, but I'm targeting the 2 you mentioned at the prices they are at relative to performance. There just isn't that much seperation statistically to justify paying 10x more for the big names right now, and they could easily come back to earth with a bad month or two, presenting a better buying opportunity anyway.

.com Pretty cool name to just say at the end of every conversation.... Walt Altmen Out! |
yes, he and Dwight both
Cheese and crackers! I forgot all about Dwight. But sort of helps my point. After all, how many guys in the history of any sport (baseball, football, hockey, basketball) that go #1 or are the most hyped end up becoming the best of the best? Not many. 9.99 times out of 10, it’s the darkhorse not the hyped. Walt Altmen out! |
I've been buying Albies at low prices for awhile. Not concentrating on him ,but he certainly has a spot in my Braves collection.
Kids overshadowed but really good in his own right. |

Aren’t you the guy that thought Cal Ripken, Jr. was the guy on ‘89 Fleer FF error card? Serious question. https://www.blowoutforums.com/showpost.php?p=14624376&postcount=1789 |

Thank you. This was what I was sort of getting at. Not taking away from Acuna or Soto. I was just trying to ascertain if buying in on these two young guys who are putting up eerily similar numbers might be a good call. The fact that most are all in on Acuna or Soto further tells me that Robles and Albies might be a good call value wise. |

You already provided the answer, pal. The only thing that will spoil your plan is injury. You can’t compare the “value” between the two groups. |

No, I had to go back and look. Then edit and add. But being that the answer was a “yes” you will have to please pardon me if I look elsewhere for solid card advice. Thank you for your contribution though. And in fact, I can compare values. It’s pretty easy, actually. It’s even easier to ascertain said value when the stats are comparable between all 4. The one thing I do not see that often in the Trout, Mantle or Jordan threads are the guys quoting themselves from back in the day then stating “Just got my new G6” or “Wrecked my 3rd Lambo this month”. Why? Guessing the likes of Dustin Ackley, Billy Johnson and Sam Bowie. |

Walt Altmen Out!
Thank you. I will comment but I’ve learned quickly not to give advice in these forums. |
