Trae Young Thread
Did you guys see the game last nice against the rockets? I might be in the minority but I think the Hawks are one of the best young teams in the league. Trae Young has gotten better as the season has progressed, shooting >40% from 3 and over 22 ppg in the month of Feb!
I have a few Trae's so I have some skin in the game but dude seems very solid and is only 19. |
Looks like you forgot to add "Hype" to your thread title :)!
In all seriousness, Trae has made great progress already throughout this season. He is so fun to watch play, and really is a great player. Personally my second favorite rookie in this years draft. Still disappointed that he didn't attend Texas Tech... Oh well. |

Now that is more like it :p:flex::p Dude has an amazing head on his shoulders, and will be in the league for years to come. |
Yes!! Keep the hyping and the pumping!! So we can do the dumping at the right time.. just joking:p:p
|
He's certainly much better than he started the season but still the same high-volume low-efficiency player.
I do love me some Trae/Collins PnR tho |

They have a decent group of young talent and have some extra draft picks. I think the bust narrative on trae young was early and imo I think he is now underrated. My hot take is that the hawks might be in the playoffs next year. |

He's still a rookie but he has too many dud games. I enjoy watching him play but just needs to knock down 3s more consistently.
Hopefully the Hawks can add a couple more pieces and be relevant for a change. |

Hopefully we'll see more consistency to end his rookie season, but the few games I've been able to watch makes me a believer or at least he seems like a decent gamble since everyone is so focused on Luka rn |

I don't think he want's any part of being known as one of the most lopsided trades in NBA history. As that narrative was floating around earlier in the season. He's been doing pretty good lately. I was high on him before the season started so im glad he's getting better. He's got to put a little meat on his bones though, looks like he's only about a buck twenty.

Hot Take Alert - he's a more entertaining player to watch than Luka.

Oooooo maybe... his passing and vision are something else for a 20 year old. Theyre both fun to watch. |

As if this makes any difference? Both are looking very good for being so young. Plus to be fair a lot of people hated on Duncan for a LONG time because of his “boring” play, remember when Amare outsold him? I do... |
Agreed with that Trae has been on fire lately.

Funny how Trae is doing most of what he was doing in college...at the pro level.
People will be saying the same thing about Ayton next year. The sleeping giant. |
I know it's been said before but his years draft class is actually really good.

I know what win share says...
I’m shocked Sexton has been 15/3/3/40/40 with the teammates he has |

I was just listening to a podcast where they made the point that the top 5 picks would still be the top 5 picks if they did it today. Albeit, it’d probably be in a different order, but still. That’s pretty impressive for how we’re almost always guaranteed at least 1 swing and miss in the top 5. |

I definitely agree with that. I think outside of the top 3 teams not getting Luka, the first real miss of the draft is magic taking mo Bamba over sexton.. Especially bc the team has needed a point guard for a long time. No idea why they tried so hard to stock up on big men. |
Big fan of Trae here! Think he deserves credit for his recent form.

While Amare was more entertaining to watch, Duncan dominated him in terms of consistency and longevity, which is what you need to be at his HOF level. As for now I enjoy watching Trae play ball. I think he really loves the game so I'm hoping he continues to put in the time and progress over the next few years. |
Looking at that list 1-9 the only one who really sticks out a little bit is Mo Bamba. But he's only playing 16 minutes a game too so you've got to look at that. Double his minutes and he'd be a 12-10 player.
