End of the Year Showoff: Post Your Favorite Pickup of 2017!
 

While I know we have a continuous showoff thread, I was hoping for participation in one simple question: what pickup or pull was your favorite for this year?

Only condition is you need to pick just one. If it’s a base card, that’s fine and dandy, but it’s gotta be a card you love to stare at. I want to challenge your collections to pick a single card that represents 2017 in a nutshell.

As usual, I will wait for others to share before posting mine.

Pack pulls are welcome just as much as ebay finds. Hopefully showing off some more cards hasn’t worn off :coffee: :cool:

2 down, 2 to go. I want to pick up the shybox Larry Bird/Magic dual auto from 1993 and a 1993 or 1994 skybox Team USA Magic Auto. Anyone have a scan of that card or the David Robinson auto from that set? I have never seen it. I think the auto is in gold pen.

With 2017 coming to a close, first and foremost, I consider myself honored to have witnessed so many nice cards members added to their collections. I am just blessed to enjoy card collecting in general. The card that really stood out for me from the rest of my 2017 acquisitions , was none other than this card shown below. I was extremely happy to have obtained this card for my ever growing PG-13 personal collection. My goal for 2018 is to try to find the base optic vinyl 1/1 to go with this one. :)! I would love to see what other member's best of 2017 are....Merry Christmas and Season Greetings in my behalf.

I can’t show my pickup as it is out at PSA right now but I can share it anyways.

My main PC is Paul Pierce rookie year cards. I don’t know the percentage but other than 1/1s and printing plates I have the vast majority of them. I am down to a handful of very rare cards that are /25 or less. However there was one outlier. The Bowman’s Best Best Performers Atomic Refractor /50. I had searched for years for this card and had never seen one for sale. CardRegistry had a graded copy but wanted a king’s ransom for it.

Then finally a few months ago one finally shows up. It was early on a Saturday evening in August. I was stuck at an intersection (not driving) and randomly checked eBay. There it as my “red ryder B.B. gun” was starring me in the face! I couldn’t hit BIN fast enough.

Edit: in searching for a picture to share I found a listing for this card that ended in September for $29.99!!!!! 1 bid! That is a steal. I check daily for Pierce cards. This must have been a poorly timed 24 hour auction or something. I never even saw it. Anyway here is a pic of that “stolen” card.
