Why is Bonds not in topps products
I'm sure this has been discussed before but I am ignorant to the situation. Does anybody know why he isn't in any products with patches and autos? Thanks.

Thanks |
Don't remember the details of why, I think it was so that he could sign an exclusive contracts at the height of his popularity

This was an issue when he was active. He is retired now. I think reason is Topps doesn't signed Bonds to a card deal effective now. |

That's my understanding too, although could he even be in the MLBPA as a retiree? Or maybe it's for life? How are retired players handled in general? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
He's in Panini products, and they have a deal with MLBPA

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
https://www.mlbpa.org/faq.aspx All players, managers, coaches and trainers who hold a signed contract with a Major League club are eligible for membership in the Association. In collective bargaining, the Association represents around 1,200 players, or the number of players on each club's 40-man roster, in addition to any players on the disabled list. |

And I think for the active players the card deal for the most part is with the MLBPA, not the individual players. Assume for retirees they're individual contracts. It's money. Bonds left the MLBPA in 2003 so he could license himself. Have no idea what he charges, but Panini must not have an issue.
Edit: Just checked my Bonds autos and he hasn't signed with Topps since leaving MLBPA. |

He sells stuff through his website.
Signed bats, ticket stubs, etc. I know he signed for Panini the last few years but im not a huge of no logos. I would love to see him in an archives type product. |
Me too or heritage clubhouse collection relic auto or heritage dual auto with Mays or a dynasty patch auto. I would pay big for many of these things.

bonds has topps autos in the 2006 release for sure and possibly 2007, but not sure on that. the auto i recollect for sure is 2006 topps series 2 green like limited to 50 i think. great looking card.

This is why I've been picking up Giants uni autos from Pacific releases on the cheap of late.

Topps Sterling and Turkey Red as well, both of which also have the Bonds authentication sticker on the back of them. They both look nice (not mine): |
That Turkey Red is beautiful. Loved that set.
Matt Wieters isn't in the Topps sets either, MLBPA. He may have signed with Topps recently though. |
There is always this Bonds auto - 2001 OPENING DAY BARRY BONDS AUTO 1 OF 400 HAS NO C. O. A

The good thing about Bonds is that compared to others, his autos are relatively cheap.
