Jason Pierre Paul blew his hand off

Is this true lol? Seeing it all over Twitter. Hearing it could be creer ending. Just what the Giants need.

Seahawks fan 07-05-2015 03:42 PM

If its true and he did it while horsing around then Plaxico Burress just lost his Title as the biggest Giants idiot.

Gigantor 07-05-2015 03:43 PM

Pro football talk is saying "severely injured" his hand. Read a tweet "Yup, he's at North Broward Med Center. There's flesh missing in different parts of his hand and has partially missing fingers."

TheFrenzy 07-05-2015 03:46 PM

Fireworks???

TheFrenzy 07-05-2015 03:47 PM

Yep, fireworks.

As I was going through my cards last night I was faced with the decision that many collectors are faced with. That is whether or not a players cards are still toploader worthy. I kept JPP in the top loader pile at the time, but now it looks like I will have a few extra penny sleeves and toploaders to use. What a moron.

No one knows the details and the only thing that's concrete is that it's severely injured.

@AndySlater

Big Jason Pierre-Paul story about to break in S. Fla. He severely injured hand in fireworks accident. @Coach_Eisy first to hint at situation

and that it's not career threatening

@AdamSchefter

Jason Pierre-Paul expected to meet with doctors, they will have their say, but early indications are, hand injury is not career threatening.

MC80_LCM 07-05-2015 07:35 PM

Honest question, can a hand injury be career threating? I mean we've seen people play with broken hands where they just have that club cast over their whole hand. I would think even if an injury was as severe as losing a whole hand, the player could still play if they wanted to, albeit at a lesser level.

The only think I can think of is that there could be nerve damage that effects the rest of the arm/body but I honestly don't even know if thats possible.

IronMonkey415 07-05-2015 07:39 PM

Nah no way, he'll still be able to play.
That field goal kicker from the 60's -70's named Clint Dempsey had half a foot and he was still balling out on the field.

freethrowtommy 07-05-2015 07:42 PM

I can't imagine that much is career threatening unless you blow a limb clear off.

With as much as DL and DE's use their hands I think it could be if the damage was severe enough.

Completely off topic but I saw where Walter Thurmond was saying how TC doesn't believe in modern medicine for players at all.
“He’s a little old-school, but he’s starting to come around to the times,” Thurmond said. “He doesn’t believe in the sport-science aspect like Coach Carroll or Coach Kelly and the newfound technology for the players. His style takes a hit, because he doesn’t believe in this aspect. He believes in winning, but he doesn’t believe in the modern medicine to progress the players to that next level.”
A friend of mine lost portions of three fingers a few years ago when a firework 'safety' fuse malfunctioned and it exploded near his hand. He wasn't doing anything unusual, simply had product that was not properly made. It was purchased from the same store with the same items that worked perfectly. There is always a risk involved.

Fireworks are legal in NY currently and are widely used to celebrate July 4th around our country. I don't see how that can possibly be described as stupid and something he shouldn't of been doing. How dare he celebrate the holiday in the exact same way as hundreds of thousands of Americans if not millions.

If it wasn't for the Giants using the Franchise Tag on him he would have signed a massive deal already this offseason with 1 of the 32 teams with a ton of guaranteed money. Now they decide that they don't want to pay him the lowball deal they offered him and take that off the table. One big **** YOU to JPP from the Giants Organization.

The franchise tag has been out there for JPP for a long time now. He didnt sign it since he wanted a long term deal. The Giants also had a long term deal out there for awhile (60MIL) and JPP wouldnt sign that since he was holding out for more.

So he got greedy, did something stupid, and the deal went away. How is that a scumbag move by the Giants? JPP played chicken and this happened to him. Should the Giants now up their contract offer with a potential long term hand problem? Should they give him more money now that he proved, at the very least, that he is capable of making such poor decisions on his own long term health?

Yes fireworks are legal in NY. But that doesnt mean he should go out and buy a trucks worth and light them himself.

trixstar 07-06-2015 01:37 PM

JPP wasn't even going to accept that deal anyway.

Well maybe if he was in NY there MIGHT be some context to your rambling posting. This happened in Florida though.
Florida law prohibits any fireworks that fly through the air or explode — such as Roman candles, bottle rockets and mortars — for recreational use. But according to state law, if they are used to scare off birds from farms or fish hatcheries, the explosives are fair game
Thing is, part of his job is keeping his body healthy. It's stupid because his hands are his livelihood.

There's a reason players have clauses in their contracts that they can't play other sports while on the team....if Gronk tears an ACL playing Basketball this summer the Pats are screwed.
