Album Suggestions, please
I have been listening to 1 album a day at work, recently. It is my way of coping with my crappy job. I need some suggestions please. I pull it up on youtube but I do have an amazon prime account I can preview things on as well. I am in to rock but will take any open suggestions at this point. Thank you.

Guns and Roses - Appetite for Destruction
Elton John - Live in Australia (there is also a You Tube Video for Part 1 of the concert) Pink Floyd - Wish Your Were Here or Dark Side of the Moon |
JD McPherson- Signs and Signifiers or Let the Good Times Roll. Both are quality albums.
Quadrophenia by The Who.
I ended up listening to this on Friday because I was excited to give it a listen. I really enjoyed it. Unforutnatly, it didn't give me titles as they were playing. The one song was a little country and I liked that. Thank you for the suggestion. Have you seen them live? |
Bleeding through - "the truth"
Avenged Sevenfold - "waking the fallen" (when they were great) The smiths - "the queen is dead" |
Molly Hatchet Flirtin with Disaster. I listened to this yesterday while doing yard work. Really pumped me up.
This was a really fun listen. I really enjoyed the album overall. There was only one song I didn't like and I am sure if I listened to it a couple more times it would grow on me. Bonus was Flirtin' With Disaster was live and they have a lot of energy. Thank you for the suggestion. |

Saw them live years and years ago in the Houston Astrodome. Quadrophenia, like most of the songs by The Who, was written and composed by band member Pete Townsend. That is why I will always have The Who positioned higher than Led Zeppelin and other groups who performed songs primarily written by others. The musical "Tommy" (The Pinball Wizard) was also written by Townsend. The country sounding song is titled "I'm One" - (I believe that's the song you were referring to). Glad you liked it! :)! |
Porcupine Tree - In Absentia first, then Fear of a Blank Planet
|
Chicago- Best of Chicago. Easy listening and some great iconic songs!
Kevin |
Fleetwood Mac - Greatest Hits
|
Always wanting to spread the RUSH joy, I have two suggestions (bypassing the popular juggernaut that is "Moving Pictures")...either "Permanent Waves" (if you want a couple radio hits like "Spirit of Radio" and "Freewill," as well as two of my favorite shorter* RUSH songs, "Jacob's Ladder" and "Natural Science") or the much more proggy "Hemispheres" (which has the legendary side-long epic "Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres," complemented on 'side two' by a decent radio hit, "The Trees" and their best instrumental, "La Villa Strangiato"). Can't go wrong with either of those two.
If anyone has EVER experienced the struggle between heart and mind, then "Cygnus X-1, Book II: Hemispheres" will eventually become your theme song. It's an 18-minute music orgasm. |
Shinedown- Sound of Madness
|
Dave Matthews Band - Crash
Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds - Live at Radio City |
Fischer Z - Red Skies Over Paradise
I am a work shift ahead of schedule so I listened to this album earlier. Overall, I liked the album. There was one song where I liked the intro (Brian was in the title) but didn't like the overall song. I suggested it to my husband to listen to because it is more his style. Thank you for the suggestion. |
Led Zeppelin II, best album ever.
|
Van Halen
Pink Floyd-The Wall |
Royal Blood-Royal Blood
This was a great suggestion! Thank you. I loved it. I was rocking out at my desk the whole way through. |
Pearl Jam - Ten
Mad Season - Wake Up |
London Calling The Clash
Great album |
All these posts and nobody has mentioned Ziggy Stardust yet? I love this album, and I don't even like David Bowie.
Also, all of Bob Dylan's old stuff is excellent, depending on how folk-y you want to get. In particular, Highway 61 Revisited and Blood on the Tracks, but literally anything before about 1975 had some great stuff on it. |
Better then IV? Everyone knows the big three on there but what about "Going to California" and "When the levee breaks"?

This sounds like this needs a poll. |
2 of the absolute greatest masterpieces EVER recorded.
GUNS N ROSES - Use your illusion 1 & 2 |
J. Geils Live in Detroit. Love these guys.

Album....April Rain
I don't know why but I wasn't expecting a female lead. I enjoyed it. I'd love to hear her belt out some Joan Jett sounding stuff. This was a good listen. Thank you for the suggestion. |
The Way We Move- Langhorne Slim
Very underrated album last year |
A lot of great suggestions. Thank you, everyone. I am still working my way through the list. I got distracted and listened to some Manson albums because I just saw them in concert.

The CD with the acoustic version of "Ziggy Stardust" and the piano version of "Lady Stardust" on it was one I listened to all through college...good times. |
Currently listening to Joshua Tree by U2. Channeling my inner Cking.

Days of the New - Days of the New II
Days of the New put out three albums, all with the same tree on them, but the covers are different colors. I'm suggesting the second album. You know you have the right one if it's the album with this tracklisting: http://www.discogs.com/Days-Of-The-New-Days-Of-The-New/master/447101 |

I had them confused with another band, when I made my orignal comment. I was thinking of Dark New Day. I am still excited to check this out. |
if you are still taking suggestions, and really listening to all suggestions made, i would highly recommend the frankfurter polka by paul kuhn

Vivid by Living Colour
Vivid by Living Colour
I agree with this... can't go wrong with Vivid, Time's Up, or Stain imo |
Anything by Interpol. But begin with their first album, Turn on the Bright Lights.
|
Been on a huge power pop kick lately, highly recommend Bandwagonesque if you ever need to feel better.

A couple days I was on the phone all day and can't have music playing and I only work PT so it will take me awhile to get to this one but I will let you know when I do. :)! |
Finished up Joshua Tree this morning. Now onto Yes. I may try to do as many albums as I can this morning. I had a Yes cassette. This should be a fun listen.

Everybody don't like something, but nobody don't like The Dickies!
How about "Stukas Over Disneyland".... Currently listening to Richard Marx's "Repeat Offender" album. I forgot how terrific he was back in the day. The songs hold up quite well, too.
